I did it in one day. Actually, I was completely new to the "wedding world" I just walked into this bridal salon and realized I needed an appt. so I made one for the next day and I tried on probably everything in the store and than I found ... the one. I changed it alot though but based the "structure" of my dress on the one I was in love with. I just designed my dress based on what I love.
I probably tried on about 10. And I second guess my choice all the time. I see way too many pretty dress on weddingbee and other blogs.
I tried on more than 100 dresses. (I dont actually know how many, but at 10 or so per store, 4 or so stores per day and 5 or so days of shopping.... 100 is a conservative number). I had a great time and when I chose mine I felt like I had tried on enough to be making an informed decision. That being said, I still second guessed but in teh end was still thrilled with my choice.
I actually did a whole post on my Almost Dress Regret:
http://barefootstargazer.blogspot.com/2009/05/almost-dress-regret.html
The dress I bought was number 53 out of a total of 55 dresses that I tried on. I did second-guess it after buying it, but the doubts disappeared when I went to pick it up a couple weeks ago. The dress is much prettier than what I remember it looked like when I placed the order, so it was a huge relief. Now I can't wait to wear it! :D
I actually tried on the dress I ended up buying my first day dress shopping -- but it took six months before I was comfortable enough committing to buy it!
First dress I tried on. I got lucky since this wasn't something I was looking forward to. I tried on 5 more and then went back to the first one. I bought it over the phone a few days later after thinking it over. I just wanted a strapless that was on the shorter side so I didn't have to worry about bustling and all the details. Props to the high number ladies, wow, I didn't have the patience.
0- I found a vintage 1950s tea length wedding dress pattern to have made, and that was the end of it! :-) no trying on "traditional gowns" for this bride! :-)
I only tried on a few before I bought what I thought was the one... and ended up totally regretting it! I went back and tried on at least 25 more before I found the one that is now going to be my dress. They're totally the opposite of each other, and I was being stubborn about this look I had in my head and not thinking about what looked best/was what I actually wanted for my wedding dress. Duh.
It was my second dress on the first day while out shopping. The first dress was at a thrift store and it was one of those "just for fun" moments...I decided to go down the street to a bridal store where I had seen a beautiful gown in the window on New Year's Eve. I tried it on and that was the end of that.
First dress I tried on. But, I had to try on practically every dress in the store, just to be sure!
I'd say between 40 and 50. The dress I bought was the very last dress I tried on. I love my Stephen Yearick design so much!
It was the third dress I tried on. The entire appointment, including drinking mimosas, looking at every dress in the salon, trying on dresses, getting measured, and putting down my deposit took under 2 hours. I'm typically extremely indecisive, so my sister, best friend, and fiance were shocked!
I think I tried on about 20 dresses in 3 different appointments at 2 stores. A few of them I tried on twice. When I didn't want to take the last one off I knew it was the one. However, along the way I have had second thoughts but then I just put my dress on again and those thoughts go away!
I only tried on three dresses, and bought the 3rd one. I have no regrets, I love my dress!
Probably like 6 or so. I don't really remember I was having so much fun with my consultant and MOH I didn't really pay attention until I saw it on me and I just cried. It was so weird, I definately did not think that I would be a crier!
I bought the dress on the first day trying on. I think I tried on maybe 10 dresses total.
Probably about 25, and as soon as I tried it on I knew. I tried on about 10-12 more after that, but none of them compared so I knew I was done
Maybe like 20? We had visited two bridal shops and was underwhelmed, and then at the third, I had just gotten so sick of searching. So we ended up buying my favorite at the third shop. On one hand I wish I had been more diligent about looking for dresses, on the other hand, I really was not into dress shopping. Those dresses are exhausting to put on and take off!
Hmm, when I found my dress I had tried on probably somewhere between 20 and 30 dresses. It was the 2nd day I went shopping, and I just got all whelled up with tears when I put it on!
I think I tried on about 8. It would've been less except the lady at the store saved my dress for last because it was a little big for the dressing room. Yeah, I'm that girl.
I'm embarassed to say that I lost count... I went to 6 bridal salons over the course of a month and found my dress at the third store... I just wanted to be really sure to consider all of my options... (And I really loved trying on so many beautiful gowns...)
Mine was the first dress I tried on. I cried, but still tried on others just to make sure. I think I tried on 7 total.

How long in time, or how many dresses do you think you tried on before you found "the one"?
Did you ever second guess your choice?
