I tried on the dress I thought I liked most, then tried on at least 20 more (including the first dress again at a different shop a different day). A few weeks later I wound up buying the first dress at a sample sale.

Um yeah I lost count, but it had to be more than 40, no joke!

My dress is the first I tried on, but I probably tried on 20 after that - just to be sure!
I must have tried somewhere between 20-30 dresses before I decided on my dress.
Probably 30 or so. I went to 4 different bridal salons, and then revisited two of them before making up my mind.
It was the first one I tried on- and not even the one I had in mind either. I tried on about 5 others, then bought the first one. I got lucky!
I tried on maybe a dozen, but ended up with the third one I had tried on. I knew it was the one immediately, but I was trying to be openminded. :-)
I think I tried on close to twenty and was getting discouraged. Then I narrowed it down to two that I LOVED. I went home, slept on it, and when I woke up in the morning I knew which one I would be mine.
I have tried on 30+, and have one in mind. I'm not sure if I should just order the one I like. I don't *love* it, but I'm running out of energy for dress shopping.
Tried on 15 or so gowns. When I put on my dress, the search was over, I didn't want to take it off nor try anything else.
My daughter and I went to at least 7 stores. She tried on over 20 dresses. At the last store (and we weren't even planning on buying) we had 5 ready to try on. She tried on the first one and said "This is it". I knew it. She knew it. We were both crying. The amazing thing is we hadn't looked at price tags at all and it turned out to be on sale..70% off! God is amazing!
I started out thinking that I was just going to get married in clothes I already owned. Then my FI said she wanted a wedding dress, but just a simple one with no train. I decided that my best bet was something like a MOB dress in a dark color, so we wouldn't have to worry about matching the colors. My FI then found a gorgeous wedding dress with a train. I took one look at it, and knew I needed to have my own wedding dress. The one I bought was the first actual wedding dress I'd tried on, but I had tried on MOB dresses before that.
For my first wedding, I also tried on exactly one dress. I tend to know what I like quickly.
Usually people end up picking up the first wedding dress they get. I won't even go into how many I tried on before I found the one I got. I think part of the reason was because I'm so petite, making everything super difficult to fit and see how it would look with 5 inches less fabric.
I tried on like 40 dresses (or more). I passed over my dress originally, but came back to it when I needed to narrow it down.
My dress was the 6th one I tried on.. and it was one that I orginally dismissed because I didn't think it would look good on me, but my mom insisted that I try it on. I put it on and as soon as I saw myself in the mirror, I started crying, my mom was crying, my BM was crying - we all knew it was the one!
None! I saw mine in a magazine and knew I had to have it! They didn't have one in the U.S. to try on so I had to have it special ordered and made for me! And they only had enough fabric to make just one more! I tried on anther dress in the store that was kind of 'similar' but that's it! I still haven't had my first fitting--I sure hope it's everything I've hoped for!!
I tried on 2 dresses before THE ONE...and about 10 after but none compared!
I think it was the third dress I tried on. I tried on a few more after that, but I'd already decided :)
