    Hi there,

I'm just getting to save the date cards and invitations and the wedding is about 8 months away (should I be stressed?)...that said, I'm wondering how many invitations to order just in case, e.g., we decide to invite new friends or colleagues, etc., in the next 6 months.

    Thanks,

    Juju

Hmm....do you have to order invitations right now? You may want to get a better count together later on... I would just order the STDs right now, and worry about the rest later if you can!

Unless you have a pretty set count, I would wait a little bit.  I put together 10 extra invitations, and almost ran out!  I would make/order at least 15 extra, and have at least 20 extra envelopes!!

I agree, focus on the save the dates.  As a rule of thumb, always order 10% more.  It gives you room for error on addressing or those extra people you run into along the way that you want to add to your list.

As for wedding invites, you can start working on your ideas, but 6 months out is plenty of time to get started on those.  A lot of companies (including ours) will offer to add extra envelopes only so you don't have to pay for a lot of invitations that you don't intend to use.

Best wishes on your planning and congratulations.

10 extra was NOT enough for us.  More more more more more!

Yeah, get at least 20 extras, I'd say. Guests have a way of popping out of the woodwork.

I was going to do 20 also (if not more).  I don't know what kind of wedding you're having, but since we're quasi destination and on a holiday weekend wedding, we'll be inviting B listers as we receive the "no" responses from our A listers.  (Okay, maybe closer to 40 extras for us).  Another thought, is if you're planning on doing the VIP guests, like Mrs. Lemon did.  Ya know, Obama, Mickey Mouse, etc.

Yeah, I would do 20 or 25 even if you can. I made about 20 extra and trust me, as soon as you send those invitations out, your parents or grandparents will want to invite more people or remember a long lost family friend, relative, etc.

I agree 20 to 25 is a good amount extra to have.

If you're not DIYing but ordering for sure I would get 20 for sure!

We've had to resend four invitations because either they moved and didn't tell us or they just simply didn't get it in the mail. Thankfully, we DIY all of it so we could made extras but if you are pre-ordering I would add an extra 25 just to be on the safe side.

    Good luck.

I definitely agree, order at least 20 extra. I only ordered 10 extra - the next increment would have given me 35 extra and I SO wish we had gone that route. We ended up sending a few of our mess up invites b/c we had no other option!

Including our B-list (which about 15 invitations itself) I ordered an extra 15 because you never know.  So 30 extra in total which is probably crazy but I'd rather be safe then sorry.
