Our sons wedding is this weekend and we have a heat wave coming.
It’s outside and there will be shade, but my sister suggested we get some paper folding fans.
There are 110 guests, and I assume men won’t use them….LOL, so I was thinking of ordering about 50 (for the women).
But do that many people use them? There will be a lot of young adults at this wedding and I didn’t know if they thought fans would be dorky…

I would get more than 50 because I don’t think you should assume a man won’t use one. If it gets hot enough even the manliest man may resort to fanning himself with a feminine paper fan.

For 110 guests I’d get somewhere between 60-75. Even on the hottest day, not everyone will use them, and I usually hear 1 fan for every 2 people, but with a heat wave you might want to bump it up a bit.

For 110 guests, I would get 110. They’re cheap and it’s better than having too few.

@star_dust: I agree!!! lol

We did fans and the guys used them, I would do at least 80. No one worries about looking silly when its 100 outside.

I’d supply more than 50. Even though guys will think that fans are too girly or whatever, they may get hot too and regret those thoughts immediately. So, just in case the guys want them, I’m with the rest of the girls. Probably 75-80…

I think at least 75-80. We had fans at our wedding-not everyone used them (were also our programs), but if you get inexpensive ones, it’s not a big cost.
Plus- isn’t their reception outside? So they could continue to use the fans throughout the afternoon.

I am going to get 75. Thanks again!

I just realized I wrote wedding in my OP, I meant reception is outside in the shade. The wedding itself is indoors.
Does that change any opinions?

Heat sucks. I was at a wedding last week and we had to sit in the sun in 90-degree weather. They bought some asian-style umbrellas, but certainly not enough – I actually got SUNBURNT waiting. Buy enough for everyone, especially if they’re cheap!

I read somewhere to get at least one per couple.

If you have programs, the men may keep those and use as fans… I wouldn’t get feminine fans. I would try to get neutral colors or plain black ones so the men and the young won’t feel awkward.
