How many fittings did you need for your dress? I bought my dress in New Orleans where I am getting married. However, I live in Michigan. They said that the only thing that will really need fixed is the length and a bustle. I am going to have to make one more trip to NOLA for this fitting. I just want to get an idea of if I am being reasonable by thinking it will only take 1 fitting.

Mine was technically 3 fittings. The first fitting she took in the bodice and hemmed the dress. Then I came back after the dress was hemmed and I decided on a bustle. I pick it up on Thursday and I’m super excited!

I had three visits to my seamstress. First fitting, second fitting, and pick up/final check for fit.
Can’t you bring or ship your dress to Michigan to get all that done with a local seamstress? If you go only once, how will you know everything turned out ok and fits properly?

I can call them in the next 2 days and tell them to ship. However, the price of my dress included all of my alterations. If I have it sent to MI. I have to pay to have it shipped and pay for the alterations here. I wasn’t sure that I wanted to pay the extra fees when the dress was already a little over my budget. My dress has the lace up back so they said that will make it so I don’t need to have size adjustments to the body.
Does this sound right?

Mine will only be three. I had very minor alterations: just a bustle, taking in at the sides of the bust, and fixing loose beading.
