- Wedding: October 2010
So, I decided to take on the somewhat daunting but to me, very exciting task of being in charge of ALL Flowers for my wedding . . . a DIY fest! I love flowers, though, I come from a family of professional florists and I like arranging them and wanted to have this part of the wedding be my creative, artistic gift.
Anyhow, here’s what I’m looking at for what I’ll have to arrange, but I have NO IDEA how many flowers I will need (I want to do a small trial run and need to have an estimate/approximation!), or how much money I am REALLY looking at spending.
My bouquet (probably fairly “large” because I have a nice gown with a cathedral train, but I’m not sure of the size yet….just not tiny, want it to match gown)
4 bridesmaids bouquets (looking at posy size)
at least 2 corsages for family/mother of the bride and up to 5 or 6 max
5 corsages, up to 8 of them possibly
a few simple centerpieces (thinking of cute vases approx 4-6″ wide and same height, mostly for food and cake tables)
some flowers to hang from shepherd’s crooks (probably about 8-10 crooks total) along the aisle
We are having an appetizer and cake reception at the same venue, so I don’t have to put flowers up on a bunch of tables. It’s lovely enough outside at our outdoor wedding site.
The flowers I am seriously considering include: ranunculus, calla lilies, roses, dahlias, and some filler material/greens. This is to be decided.
Any ideas guys? How many flowers approx and the price? Trying to budget and prepare!
