I read somewhere that the “proper” amount of bridesmaids to have is 1 per every 50 guests. I am planning on having 120-130 people at our wedding, but it’s looking like I might have 6 bridesmaids…is that too many? Is it going to look odd that one tenth of our wedding will be in the party?
Also – if any of you have had this many (or more) I would appreciate some group pics (including groomsmens) to see how it all looks in the end…

smactley- my numbers are identical to yours. i am worried about this as well.

You can have as many as you want. The 1/50 is just a guideline. I am having 2 with no more than 50 guests. By the time we get all of the RSVPs, it will probably be more like 2/35.

yikes lol in that case we definitely have too many. our wedding party will have 7 BM’s and 7 Groomsmen but we’re only having about 100 guests. I don’t think it matters though, if you have someone you want to be in your wedding then i don’t think it should depend of the size of your guest list.

I’m having 2 (MOH and BM) with only 65 guests.
Have as many as you want! Thats why its your wedding!

I don’t think you have anything to worry about! Every wedding is different, and I think 6 is fine for practically any size wedding. Its really not that many! here is a pic from google:

I don’t think 6 bridesmaids will look bad.

I don’t think it’s too many. I was going to have 6 but we decided to go with 4 each and we are having 150. I think its a personal choice on how many to have and you should do whatever you want. You don’t want to look back and regret it.

i read somewhere that it’s like 1 per 20 guests. ? maybe i’m wrong, but i think you’ll be fine girl! 🙂

I think you can do whatever you want. Yeah, if you had a wedding with 20 guests, and had 12 attendants, and your parents, and were only left with 6 “real” guests, that might seem a little weird, but I think once you’re past about 50 people filling the seats, you can do what you want.

We had 30 people at the ceremony and 2 bridesmaids. According to what you said, that would have been too many. But for us it was perfect. You can have as many as you want.

When I saw the title, I thought you were going to say that you had like 12 on each side or something. 6 is definitely ok! We’re having 4 on each side for 150 people…I think that guideline is silly and just wrong.

We had 56 people total and each of us had 5 in our party. When people are important to you and you want them standing with you, there’s really no limit in my eyes.
