I think we had about 80 items total, and about 90 people attended the wedding. It was more than enough - not everyone bought us a gift, not everyone bought off the registry, some people gave cash, and we had quite a few families who, of course, only gave us one gift. I think that as long as you have a variety of choices at a variety of price points, you'll be fine! And you can always add more if you see the selection getting low. :)
@parasol: well my two showers are only a week apart, next saturday and the saturday after. So I won't really know, especially if everyone shops the day before or day of the shower!
@miss-spunkin: I have 37 on my target registry & idk how many on our cloth diaper registry.. I wanna say it comes out to between 85-100 things total (partially b/c of registering for like 30 prefolds).
I tried to make my target registry bigger, but just couldn't find anymore things I knew we'd use/wanted. I REALLY hope our guests check out the diaper registry or I atleast get gift receipts for the target items (they're a PAIN about returns).
If this is specific to a baby registry, you might want to get that into the title! People will probably respond about their wedding registries without seeing what sub-forum this is in.
@mink: done. Sorry about the confusion!
@amnystik: Yeah that was my problem too.. Although I registered for a few "cutesy" items like some toys/decor to add some items. We'll see how it goes. I hope that I get gift receipts too, because if I get things outside my registry that I won't use, I'll be disappointed that I could have bought something on amazon instead.. and most people don't shop online before a shower.
@miss-spunkin: Yea... at target, without gift receipts they have a limit of what you can retrun EVEN for STORE CREDIT!... I'll totally cry! I guess I could always order b.g & f.b off taget online if all I can get is store credit. I wish they carried them in the store though so I didn't have to fret so much about it. sigh
When I had my son, I probably only registered for a 50 items but keep in mind that the people who come will not all bring things from your registry. They will bring things THEY want the baby to have, trust me on this. And then you have the marvelous folks who bring things like a homemade backpack thingy thats supposed to be a baby bag (diaper bag)...that just looks like...weird. Lol obviously not my thing! But she's a sweetheart :) You should be fine though!
And I think it's without ID that Target only lets you return 3 things per year. If you have an ID I think you can do it a lot, I'm not sure 100% though. I AM sure about the 3 per year w/o ID though!
@andilene: I think it may depend on the Target too... Ours just implemented a stricter return policy of $70 max a year without receipt b/c people had been getting things from the shelves & going straight to the return register. Definitely stinks here! =/
@andilene: & @amnystik: in my experience, you can return $75 on your drivers license at target per year. I didn't register at target though, so that shouldn't be an issue unless someone buys me something from there. I've heard BRU's return policy is a little better.
@andilene: YES. very true. They did this at my sister's shower too. She wanted to use only organic products on her baby, of course those of us who know her well knew this, but she still got a lot of J&J products and no receipts so she ended up just donating them.
@miss-spunkin: That stinks :( I use all natural J&J on my son because his skin is sensitive and Wisconsin weather is brutal! He is 3 and we love it, but I can't use anything smelly or whatever on him because it irritates his skin. It's so hard when people just go willy-nilly and get you whatever they want when you've specifically registered for things. Of course you are grateful they come and bring things for you & your child, but seriously--if they knew she donated all those things they would probably get offended, yet they didn't pay attention the registry! It's just hard.

I have 55 on my amazon registry and 45 on my BRU registry, with options ranging from $5-$200. Is this too few? I didn't think so initially, but I'm having two showers. There were about 30 people invited to my family shower, and about 20 at my other shower.
I honestly don't know what else I could add to them because I wanted to register for stuff I needed, not things I won't need/use. Also, don't a lot of people buy clothes (I didn't register for any) or other things outside the registry?
I'm hoping it's enough :)
