So how many brides are not using an aisle runner? I'm not too keen on how aisle runners look so i'm considering not using one....anyone with me?
I am not using an aisle runner. I think a lot of them look great until you walk on them. Also, in my opinion, they are a tripping hazzard.
meee!! The beautiful marble floors in my church are too pretty to cover (I MIGHT do some flower petals, if even that)...
I am not using an aisle runner either - I am also not having petals of any sort..
I'd like to use one, but probably won't since it's a tripping hazard. Also, we're doing a 40s-inspired wedding, and from what I understand, they just didn't have a use for frivolities like that back then. ;)
Not here! The wedding coordinator at our venue was against it because it can be a tripping hazard!
My church won't allow us to use an aisle runner (not sure the reason why), so we won't be using one. I don't always like the look of aisle runners because they can sometimes look very cheap and usually end up getting kicked around, scuffed up, holes in them etc.
I don't think I will use one. I am in a Catholic Church, and there is already a very long aisle..it's in red carpeting though. No petals are allowed, either. I'm not sure my church allows it, but I don't want one anyways. The aisle is SO LONG anyways!
starry, your church sounds exactly like mine! Catholic church, red carpet, no petals, no runner... You don't live in NY do you? Although I'm sure there are a million catholic churches with red carpetting and those rules haha. :)
I'm using whatever's in the church. I don't intend to put a lot of decor into my church other than flower pillars at the front.
I am not using an aisle runner, petals or anything else down the aisle. We are getting married outdoors and I will just be walking down the concrete. For me an aisle runner seemed like a tripping hazard and just one more detail I would have to worry about.
We're not using an aisle runner for the ceremony, but I think we'll have lanterns defining some sort of aisle for the receiving line.
We're having a garden ceremony so we'll probably just use a gap in the chairs to mark out our aisle. Maybe if I get really excited we'll put down some rose petals or something. Our venue told us they could provide us with a red carpet - but seeing as my 84 yr old grandfather will now be accompanying my mum and I down the aisle I'm not up for any potential tripping hazards - his mobility is already not so great! Plus, having a red carpet in a garden kinda seems a bit odd to me! LOL
I'm not doing an aisle runner. We are having the ceremony in the state capitol building, the floors are a pretty marble floors, we'll have a short aisle, and I'm clumsy.
noooooo aisle runner here either. the last thing i need are arty photos of me gracefully falling on my face :)
No aisle runner here, either. It's an outdoor fall wedding and we're doing potted mums along the aisle. Pretty, simple...and my Maid of Honor told me all about the times (yes, plural) she's been in weddings where the bride and/or maids nearly went on their butts because of the runner...I'm a klutz on a normal day.
Nope! We are having a garden wedding so we are going to sprinkle the grass with white and yellow petals...im really excited about it actually!
We're not using an aisle runner. Our ceremony will be outside, and I suspect it will be challenging enough for me to just walk on the grass. Adding a piece of fabric that could potentially trip me doesn't seem like a good strategy.
No I'm not. I'm getting married outside in the grass and I can see that as both a practicality fail (tripping and falling on my face in a wedding gown) and as an aesthetic fail (they get all scrunched up). I'd like to use flower petals but my venue doesn't allow it.
We're not having one - the ceremony is planned for outside, but if it's raining (or snowing!), it'll be inside in the same location as the reception. The "aisle" will just be marked by the chairs, maybe some flowers. I think an aisle runner would definitely be a tripping hazard, and I totally agree with jaylii9 - just one more thing to worry about!
My church doesn't allow runner's or petals on the floor and even if they did I wouldn't use either. Aisle runners never stay straight and always get bunched up and the idea of people throwing flowers at my feet makes me laugh, and that's why I'm not having a flower girl. However, I think flowers lining the aisles are pretty.
Here is a picture of our venue. I think an aisle runner would look odd.
No isle runner for us either. It is grass, ad I just don't see the point of covering it up.
I would've liked to use one b/c our ceremony will be on a rooftop w/a concrete floor. It will likely be windy, and so I couldn't use flower petals along the sides of the aisle. I would have to get strong carpet tape, which I don't want people to have to deal with removing after the ceremony before cocktail hour, which is in the same space. I agree that it gets dirty and scruffed. I just can't really justify the price.
Nope aisle runner for us, either. It's outside and I don't think the price is worth it. For the most part, if we can't use it later, we're not getting it... We're also letting the bridesmaids and groomsmen keep their bouquets and bouts....
me me, i nearly gave my florist a heart attack with that one...she was very into the aisle runner, but i liked a cleaner look (an excuse to cover my clumsiness and fear of tripping). i do hope to have petals on either side though.
we're not doing an aisle runner because our ceremony is outside and I don't want to trip on it while walking over the grass. I considered one because i don't want my heels to sink into the ground, but I realized a runner wouldn't stop that anyway. We might do petals and candles on either side of the aisle but I havn't thought it through all the way yet.
We didn't use an aisle runner. I loved our church and it had really pretty stone floors so I didn't want to cover it up with a piece of fabric.

No aisle runner....but we will be lining the aisle with stanchions draped with pomanders and tulle and rose petals along eash side of the aisle. The floors are slick hardwood and there really isn't anything to anchor an aisle runner to so it's slippery. I would hate to see my sister (the bride) and our dad fall due to an aisle runner adding to the slickness =)
We got married in a garden and I thought an aisle runner would look out-of-place there.
not having one either! i was never really interested in one and i have a tendency to trip so i figured i wouldnt risk it. lol
Not going to have an aisle runner either. The Chapel I'm using has concrete floors, but are designed to look like large slabs of slate. Besides why pay for something that only gets one use. My flowers at the chapel will be used again at the guest book table at the reception. I can't have petals either, but I'm fine with that less cleanup.
We're not using one either-- we're getting married on a yacht and it would look weird.
No aisle runner for us! I actually don't really LOVE how they look (now those petals lining the aisle - those are awesome!).
@nmsoonerbride: Um, do I see that pic right? Does the floor just DROP right behind where you will be standing?!??!?! If so, please be careful!!!
