Just curious. Kind of a silly question. So FI had to work originally on the cake tasting day. I said fine I'll take my mom, aunt (who is paying for the cake), and stepmom with me...now I thought THAT was too many people. I set it up with the bakery. So now FI says that he now wants to take the day off to go. 5 PEOPLE? is that way too many?

I'm always leary of too many opinions when really it is only you and your FI's choice. If it can't be avoided though since you've already invited them, I don't think it will be TOO terrible depending on how demanding and opinionated they are.

For us, it was only me and FI, but I know that doesn't always work out.

I had six... FI and I, my parents, his mom, and my grandma (who paid for the cake)  It was fine, but I think we had to pay a fee for bringing so many people.  Just make sure the bakery is fine with it first.  We all just like cake so we wanted to eat some.

DH was working out of town alot then and I am the picky one when it came to flavors, so I did it all by myself.  It worked out great because I got to eat all that cake.  Most of the bakeries around here give you small cakes to try, and since I was by myself, I brought them all home.  I ate every bite!  Even the sucky ones, but hey, cake is cake ;)

When it comes to cake I will FIGHT for my favorite flavor, haha! no i'm more worried about us looking like we're going for free food or something.

I wish we would have brought more. There was just FI and I and there were a lot of cupcakes.... So many that my head spun.

@Mrs.Lonestar:  Mmm, do it! I went alone (Mr.ND doesn't like cake) so I ate til I passed out :-) Hehe. But really, 5 sould be ok, just as long as the baker knows to plan for that many. Have a blast!

I think it'll probably be me, my FI, and my mom (: Her and I are planning the wedding together, so even though she probably won't have much cake, she'll keep keep us organized and stuff.

I just went with DH.  Strangely enough, neither of us like cake, so perhaps we weren't the most qualified to choose in retrospect....

I think 5 is fine, but make sure that's ok with the bakery.  One of the places we went could only accommodate 3 people, the other said 4, and one place we called said there would be a charge for more than 4 people, I'm guessing due to needing more cake?

Three people went to mine.  But I wasn't one of them!  My mom, MOH, and my mom's friend went since I live overseas.

It was very sad :(  For me...they loved it.

Keep in mind, the more you take, the more opinions you have to deal with.  It might actually make it harder to choose.

My cake tasting was my catering tasting too... it's all being done by the same lady. I had my FI, my grandparents (who are paying for the catering and myself. 4 people and she was happy to see all of us. =)

I know one flavor that I most definitely want! I tried it at a bridal show, but the other flavors aree really for the guests so I actually want their opinions :) again, I'm not scared of opinions, just of looking like free loaders haha

@Mrs.Lonestar:  our baker only sets up tastings for 2 people (ie the bride and groom basically) but we could have asked to bring maybe 2 more people.  It was good we just went, because we gave the leftovers to my parents and they did not like what we picked.  i know they would have influenced our decision too if they were there.  so i'm glad it was just me and FH - its OUR cake!
