We registered at 3… but I felt that was a bit much. We were only planning on 2 (Kohl’s and BBB) but after we could not decide on a dish set, we added Crate & Barrel because we liked their dishes. We *only* registered for dishes and matching placemats and napkins from there. In hindsight I would have eliminated Kohl’s.

    Edit: D’oh I think I voted for 2 instead of 3.

We did 2 – Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma. We weren’t interested in registering for electronics or anything like that, so between these two we were able to find everything.

We have registries at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and Amazon, and I feel like that has covered everything we want.  Honestly, we could have gotten away with Amazon only, but I wanted to at least have the option for guests to visit a store and shop around in person if they wanted to.  If I see anything over three registries on a wedding website, I completely glaze over and just pick the first store on the list.

2 – Bed Bath and Beyond and Target. The BBB registry has most of our stuff on it, but I wanted to register for a few big ticket items that BBB doesn’t have so I went through target. I have a vacuum and grill on there. Not expecting to get those, but thought why the heck not ask, a girl can hope!

We registered at two (: We registered at Sears and The Bay. Pretty much everywhere has a Sears and people would be comfortable ordering from there and then we chose The Bay because it’s a little more high-end and had stuff that we couldn’t find at Sears. Both are pretty well balanced, but The Bay has more of our big-ticket items.

ETA: I would have registered at Amazon if had an actual registry. They have way better prices and free shipping. I don’t think many of our guests would have been comfortable ordering online anyways though.

The only significant distinction IMO is between none and any number.  Whether someone is  registered at one or at three or ten,  I personally don’t see any difference.

We registered at two.  Bed, Bath, and Beyond and Macy’s.  The majority of our items are on the BBB registry and we registered for a few pricer items at Macy’s, such as luggage.

3 – Bed, Bath, and Beyond for home stuff, Sears for tools, and REI for our camp kitchen.

We did register at Target to get the free gift card, but we didn’t advertise that registry.

I would say 3 is the max, any more and you run the risk of looking greedy.

We did two but could have really just done one. I hated the BBB website and all our guests purchased off our Macy’s registery anyways.
