If someone steps on your train, something has to give. Either your bustle will tear off (being the weakest point) or the bustle will hold but the fabric or the seams of your gown will tear. It's best to make the bustle the wekest point of the system. If your bustle fails you can always tack it up with safety pins or some stitches. If you dress tears, it will be MUCH harder to salvage.

I went for a fitting yesterday. I have a satin dress with a semi-catherdral train. However the overbustle only had 1 point (button) that the entire train was hanging from. It seemed realy flimsy. I asked them to add more, so they're going to add two more points.
Should there be more than 3 points though? I'm worried it won't hold well, and we're going to be swing dancing...
