Our online viewing gallery was just put up tonight and we have 220 pics from 8 hours of coverage with two photographers. Is that a really low number?
I am a bit disappointed in many of the pictures – the flash seems to be too powerful in many of the whole bridal party shots (of which there were few). And there are fewer ‘candid’ shots and many of the ‘good’ shots are the posed ones that are mostly for other family members/parents anyway. There are 12 pictures of the 2 toasts given, it just seems off the mark from what we wanted.
This photographer was supposed to be one of the best in the state, 15 years experience, and we loved their photos (including whole albums of the same wedding) and our e-pics. They were definitely not cheap. We are getting a CD of the pictures – is it possible that we will get more pictures on the CD?
I’m hoping in the long run I’ll be happier with the pics, there are some really nice ones, but I’m just kind of letdown right now.

That does seem low…we had 1300 from 9 hours with 2 photogs. She gave us EVERYTHING though, even ones that were blurry/out of focus. Maybe there are other ones that the photog just hasn’t shared with you yet?

Did you ask the photographer how many to expect?

@bRooklynRocks: I was trying to remember if had done that – we might have at some point, I just don’t remember/have the notes in front of me. I know they pushed their album pretty hard, which depending on the package we picked would have included 150-275 images. The package we ultimately picked would have had 175-200 images. However, we are getting a CD of the images instead. I’m wondering if the cd will have more images? Maybe to keep it a little easier to pick for the online gallery?

We had 1500 pics from 10 hours of coverage and 1 photogs. What you’re describing sounds like so few. Perhaps you should ask to see everything. Maybe what you would like is different than what they chose to put up on the gallery

I had about 1,000 for 8 hours of coverage

That doesn’t sound like a lot, but that’s only the online gallery. I would never post an entire wedding online, it would take forever! Give her a call if you’re concerned 🙂

i had 1045 from wedding and TTD combined in my online gallery and on the DVD. However, there were often duplicates of pictures (like same one in color and B&W). The wedding was about 720 images (rest were TTD). ALso, there were a few blurry ones in there.
I also noticed that some pics she took were not there. Like i remember her coming in while i was getting my manicure and taking a couple of pics, and it was the first ones of the day. But i have none of them. which i was glad about because i knew i looked hideous and tired then, so i never even asked for them!

My son got married in Mexico and got appx 200 photos for 4 hrs. They were very good pictures. Then came the reception at home and we hired a photogapher for 4.5 hrs. The pictures were awesome but there was 58 total. 58 and she had an assistant with her. In hindsite I did see her standing around alot. She put the blame on the bride for not telling her what she wanted pictures of. Talk about disappointed. We did not have in the contract how many pictures to expect. Make sure you have that stated.

1300+ for 6 hours of coverage and 2 photographers

We got about 1200-1300. We had a few duplicates where they send several edited versions of the same photo, but now that many. She may have just put the ones she thought were the best online.

Everyone is going to have a different number. It definitely does sound low for 2 photographers – in my mind I can’t imagine not having more keepers than that over 8 hours of shooting with 2 cameras going. Still, every photographer is different. Many folks who say they got 1500 or 2000 photos don’t explain that they got all of the photos so some are out of focus, bad exposure, duplicates, etc. They also likely didn’t get 1500 fully edited files. I imagine all 220 of yours were fully edited, right? I’d contact the photographer and find out if there are others before you jump to any conclusions, but if that is it there’s likely not much you can do about it. Does your contract talk about number of images at all? Do you know anything about the second shooter? If it’s a second shooter just found for the job (rather than someone who works with the primary regularly) it’s possible they took sub-par images and the primary didn’t use any them.
The key is to ask yourself if you feel like big chunks of the day are missing. Are there moments that weren’t captured? I am concerned with what you’re saying about the “strong flash” and the overall quality of the images.

I had an absolute ton – over 2500 for the rehearsal dinner (1 hour), rehearsal (1 hour) and wedding coverage (10 hours), with two photographers. Many are different edits of similar shots, but there are a ton of unique pictures, and he got a huge number of detail shots. The number of shots he takes are one of the reasons I booked him – I’m not always thrilled with my face/pose/etc. in pictures and I was happy to have several chances to get good ones.
