Just wanted to know-- we got 34 this year, which is up from last year's 25!
PLUS, what kind of candy did you guys give out? (we gave out mini mars bars/snickers/twix and m&ms)
We only got about 11. :(
I think I'm going to leave the pan of candy out on the front porch, just in case. I need to get ready for bed!
A big fat 0! We live out in the boonies...no kids to be found. :( I told hubby that I wished we lived somewhere a little more populated sometimes, and this is one of those times.
Ah. I was soooo excited to give out candy. I'm from a very small town at the end of a cul-de-sac, where every year I made little candy packets to give away. Not ONE in my entire life showed up. Then I moved to the city. Appartment building. No one. Now I live in a House: I was PUMPED!!!! I ot ONE...
Zero. :( We live in an apartment building and never get any. I can't wait til we own a home where we can decorate outside and hopefully get some trick-or-treaters!
We got around 200. an assortment of mini chips, and tootsie rolls, peanut butter cups.
All the kids came between 5:30 and 8. Constant stream that we put on our jackets and sat on the porch.
We ran out of candy at 8 so we shut it down but there were still quite a few groups making the rounds
We got about 20ish people... that is why we decided to hand out full chocolate bars (last year we had about the same) - I bought 45 just in case but it looks like I will need to make some extra trips to the gym at this rate..
We had about 20 trick or treaters this year. This was our first year in our new house handing out candy so it was nice to meet a couple of neighbors we haven't met yet. We handed out Tootsie Pops, tootsie rolls, bubble gum, almond joys, and mr. goodbars. Happy Halloween!
we get 0. we live in an urban neighborhood filled with hipsters and old people (weird combination, right?)
there are so few children here, I'm shocked when I see one. I'm pretty sure the parents drive them to fancy neighborhoods for trick or treating.
Zero! Pumpkin and porch light are lit on, the bowl's by the door. I has a sad. :(
@janie-janie: Same here, haha. Lots of retired couples, very few children.
@hisgoosiegirl: We bought candy that we disliked so we wouldn't be tempted. The fun part will be giving it away. -_-
It's still early, but none :(
And we have some mini chocolate bars. DH was upset cuz I didn't buy enough, but I kinda had a sense we wouldn't get many kids here...so less candy to make us fat!
We had 4 :( How sad! haha now what are we going to do with all of this extra candy?!
Our neighborhood is full of kids. We had well over 150...
We gave out glow braclets, glow bats, plastic fangs, spider rings, peanut butter cups, milk duds, malt balls, snickers, 3 musketeers, etc. We have 4 bags of 87+ pieces of candy and dumped them together. We ran out at 7:30 and had to turn off the lights... before that we were outside the whole time.
Boo... now I want candy... I never got to snag any!
Sad for those of you who had zero! :( It all depends on where you live.
Halloween was postponed until Friday this year due to residual damage and power outages from the Nor'easter. As I write this by candlelight from my phone....
We left a pumkin full of candy out while we took our daughter trick or treating. We're the only apartment here that even bothers to leave out candy every year, and some assholes stole it. Nice.
@techie: we bought candy we liked in case there were leftovers. bad(good?) idea.
I happen to be staying with my parents at the moment and so I was designated the giver of candy- we had a surprising amount of trick-or-treaters, but most of them were not even in costume! I kept saying "what...is everyone too cool for halloween now?"
we had 35. We could have passed out more, but we ran out of candy! They didn't start coming till about 7 and by 8 we ran out. It was a little more then we had last year (27).
We passed out twizzlers, skittles, starburst, lifesavers, and bubble gum. I was being super generous and kept giving them out in hand fulls... I couldn't help it! They were all so cute!!!
I started handing out candy at 5:50 and was out of all 200 pieces at 7:20, and there were still a ton of kids out when I shut down. In fact, someone knocked on my door at 9, even though all the lights were off.
I don't even know. A TON. We ran out of candy in less than an hour. We got our first ones around 5 and had the lights off before 6.
@raspberrylemonade: I actually had to hang a sign on our door saying we were out of candy because they wouldn't stop knocking! I don't know what their parents were thinking. My mom never would never have let me go up to a dark house.
I live in a condo so we get 0. However I always take my son out so were never home even if anyone came.
I'm disappointed as I've had 0. It's still early here so I have some hope. I've got the front door open and the porch light on - but honestly I haven't even seen kids out in the neighborhood. This is the first year I've lived in a house (on my own - my parents get lots of trick or treaters) and I was excited to finally have some - but I guess I have to wait. Hopefully next year we'll live somewhere we get some.
1 in our nyc apt building, but we didn't have candy (there's only 1 kid who lives in our building, and this was a different kid anyway), so i gave her a granola bar. oops!
where i grew up though is like halloween central, it makes me kind of sad to be anywhere else! my parents apparently gave away 800 pieces of candy this year and ran out at 8pm!
0...seriously??? I live in a big townhouse community with TONS of lights on...where are all the children??? I'm stalking the porch...if I see a little kid I'm just gonna dump both bowls of candy into their bag...I seriously can not keep all this candy here....my teeth are falling out just looking at it all........
It started off REALLY slow. I gave the first two kids a double fist full of candy because it was nearly 7 and no one had come yet! It picked up after that though, we got down to 5 pieces by about 8:45 and called it a night. Not bad! I'd say in total maybe a couple dozen? Much better than last year. We live in a pretty quiet neighbourhood, there aren't tons of kids but there are a few big apartment buildings way further down the street, you think those kids would be smart and come up to the nice neighbourhood up the road!!!
None for me! I live in the boonies and there are no kids near me at all. I didn't even bother to buy candy. It's kinda sad because I love handing out candy!
I didn't count, but I think probably 20-ish.
This is the first year we've been home for Halloween in our house (our 3rd Halloween here, but the past two years, we had other parties to go to so we weren't home). Next year, we need to buy more candy! We turned off our porch light off at 8:30 because we ran out of candy, we bought 4 bags and thought that would be enough! We lived in an apartment before and never had any trick-or-treaters!
NONE Halloween was cancelled in most of Connecticut due to the crazy snow storm :(
We live in a shady complex so we didn't have any children. In years past, I tried but this year I didn't even b/c I don't need to eat entire bags of candy..
We had one group, and we had out lights off so we just hid. I know that sounds bad but I was so excited our first year in the house to give out candy and we had a hot 2 groups come by. After that I kind of lost some enthusiasm. I think it might be because we are on a block that only has houses on one side because a school is across the street and at the end of our block is a major road.
I was expecting a bunch, since we live in a pretty big neighborhood, but we ended up getting around 15? I was kinda sad/surprised, but we ARE almost in the cul-de-sac.
We realized we'd be slow pretty quickly, so every kid got a huge hand full of candy at least. :) I was so sad I started taking our inside decor down...granted, the decor was mostly for our party Sat night but I was leaving it up for tonight! *Le sigh* I can't wait till I can take my own kiddos around.
None! I guess kids don't trick or treat in apartment buildings? There are a number of kids in our building. Someone asked FI where they should go and he reccomended the houses down the street, but that they could start with us. He bought a couple peeps but now they are sitting on the table calling my name.
I live in a townhouse near a neighborhood of homes and thought for sure I would get trick or treaters. I bought two big bags of candy and only had 2 little girls stop by. :( Now I'm stuck with tons of candy and I just joined Weight Watchers!
My neighborhood is insane I bought 15lbs of candy and was out in 1 and 1/2 hours. I even got SO to hand out some without much convincing.
I got 5 trick or treaters. Man the neighbors kids didn't even come over! They were having more fun playing around the inflatables they had then to go trick or treating.
