It sounds like I will just have one, at 20 weeks (unless something comes up). I am feeling fine about this….until I get on the bee and see people having multiple U/S per trimester, then I feel like maybe I should have more, or that I should “get” to have more haha. So, how many did YOU have?
PS I know if there are problems detected or spotting/bleeding it is normal to have an U/S or additional U/S, I’m just asking about a normal pregnancy with no complications, which is hopefully what I got going here!

I had two! One NT ultrasound, and one anatomy scan.

I had routine ultrasounds at 8, 15 and 20 (anatomy scan) weeks, but would have had another at 12 weeks for the testing/scan we opted out of doing.
I also wasn’t expecting it, but the midwife also took a look during my glucose test window at my 25 week appointment (maybe just for fun? whatever, yes please and thank you!).
I’m not sure if we have any left.

I had two. Only one was part of the typical prenatal care – the anatomy scan. I had to have an extra ultrasound, because during the anatomy scan, the tech noticed my placenta was lying low, so she scheduled an ultrasound for several weeks later to see if it would move. It did!

So far, I have had four. One at 5 weeks 3 days b/c of spotting, one at 8 weeks, one at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks. I’m currently 27 weeks, but shouldn’t have another one unless there is a problem.

I had way, way too many. Because I am over 35, the standard policy at my Dr’s office and hospital was FULL genetic testing, Harmony screening, meetings with high risk pregnancy team and monthly ultrasounds. Truth be told, I am grateful to have access to high quality healthcare but it was excessive. The ultrasounds really didn’t look that much different from month to month. I asked what they were looking for and the answer was to see if the baby had stopped growing. Then I asked what we would do if it had, and their answer was “pray”. Really? Your charging my insurance company $1200 per month to decide if we should pray or not? Waste of my time and healthcare resources. I even tried to opt out or donate some of my tests but from a liability standpoint they wouldn’t let me. Just a view from the too much testing camp. I hope that it helps, best wishes!

I had 3. At 8, 12 and 20 weeks. The 12 and 20 weeks ones are standard but the 8 weeks one I had just to confirm I was actually pregnant.

My doctors office told me 3! The first at the first appointment, one at 20 weeks and one at 37 weeks.

I’m 18 weeks and about to have my 3rd next week. The first two were at 8 weeks and 12 weeks. So far, things seem to be normal but i’m not sure how many I will have overall. Maybe it all depends on the doctor and where you live?

You ladies are not helping me- now I want one right NOW, it is so hard to wait to 20 weeks!!! Hearing the heartbeat for the first time was super exciting, and we could have the NT scan in the next couple days….but I’m concerned about false positives and worrying for nothing, so I don’t think we’ll have it. We’re doing the birth center/midwife route, I think that if I’d gone with an OB I would’ve gotten one at 8 weeks….sometimes I wish I had, oh well.

@Foreverblonde345: Wow, that is intense! Interesting perspective, thanks for sharing. May I ask where you live? I am 32 so not that far from 35 and may well be 35 when/if I have a second baby.

I didn’t answer because we are getting extra ones due to abnormalities on our anatomy scan. We had a dating ultrasound around 8 weeks, the optional NT scan at 13 weeks, and the anatomy scan around 20 weeks. Since those, we have had 3 more at a high-risk doctor and still will have another 2 just to check on baby.

@MrsAKSkier: How far along are you? When did you get to hear the heartbeat? I assume it was via dopplar if it wasn’t via u/s.

I’m low risk but have had 5 including my anatomy scan. I’ll only have one more unless something happens to require another.
