@Soon2BD-CBee:  Umm, I looked a TONS on-line but we saw about 3-4. I wanted to make sure I didn’t find something I like better. IMO I think you need to see at least 2 so you have something to compare.

I think we looked at around 8 venues.  If you look at one you absolutely love and it fits the budget, book it.  Don’t let it fill up before you get a chance.  If it happens to be the first one, good for you!  I’m one that stops looking for something once I find something I love (dress, house, FI).

Looked at one, but considered 4 or so based on their pricing and capacity. The one we looked at was the winner on all counts!

@Soon2BD-CBee:  Zero. Including mine. Planning from another country is hard. 😛 I looked at a ton online but obviously couldn’t visit any.

@Soon2BD-CBee We asked the basic questions about food, drinks, bar setups, DJ setup, table layouts, ceremony chair layout, etc.  The biggest thing for me was getting an accurate estimate and contract.  My venue didn’t show the rental fee as part of the estimate.  It was a separate item tacked on.  Make sure there are no hidden fees and find out what the taxes and service fees are.  Good luck!

find out whjen set up would be if their staff will set up or if you need to do it, if you are having outside vendors decorate make sure they allow that— my place said outside vendors can be hired and decorate- so i found a vendor who was willing to chair covers sashes, head table drapery and lighting and make the walls flowy with fabric and uplighting and 4 weeks before the wedding the venue told them no.( they were already paid for all the things discussed) so we ended up having just chair covers and the head table because people said one thing to me and told them something else and couldnt fullfil contracts….

About five in person but prob 10 or 15 online. Yeah if you like a venue enough in person why not. The only reason I didn’t go with the sevond one I saw was the distance. Honestly, only one that we saw in person was a definite no.

I started with a list of 20.. thanks to WeddingBee posters’ responses on my DW Rocky Mountains thread! 🙂 I compared 1 local venue online, 4 Albertan Rocky Mountains venues online and 1 BC venue online. I viewed only one place — since we are familiar with the area; we love the local bakery and uncommercialized hiking trails, as well, the hotel has gorgeous grounds & decor, we picked the place. When we were viewing and booking the venue, we were provided a complimentary night’s stay and dinner.

We went and saw 15 venues that were in our price range.. I wanted to see what our options were..11 of those were in my city and the other 4 were in Sedona, az.. Glad we chose where we had our wedding.
