My first prenatal appointment wasn’t until almost 11 weeks.

What do you mean by exam? like PAP? Ultrasound? Appointment in general?

Here(NS, Canada), most women don’t even see an OB till their third tri.

I declined having any PAP’s done during my pregnancy..

My first doctor’s appt (with my GP) was around 6weeks and just consisted of a blood work form and some informational pamphlets, and a brief interview.

I had an ultrasound at 6 and 8 weeks with my OB. My first official prenatal (pregnancy confirmed already) visit was at 12 weeks.

@KIKI25:  Just a heads up, the ultrasound will likely be transvaginal. They may wait for a pap until 12 weeks, though.

@KIKI25:  Be clear with them what you want them to NOT do. By standard, they will do a PAP.

I was no comfortable with that and told my GP not to do one.

Make sure you ask what they will be doing and instruct clearly what you don’t want.

I would definitely get the transvaginal ultrasound if they offered it!  At 7 weeks you should be able to see the heartbeat 🙂  You would not be able to see much of anything with a regular ultrasound at this point.

I went yesterday and I am 9weeks and 6 days.  The did not have to do a pap on me because my last one was clear and I don’t need another until 2016, yahoo!  They did not do an ultrasound but I’m seeing a midwife.  They were able to find the heartbeat.  She did breast exam and listened to my lungs and heart.  They drew a ton of blood.  Not much else though.  I go back in 4 weeks.

9 weeks.  I had a PAP like a couple months before I got pregnant so they didn’t do a repeat PAP but she did do an exam and checked my cervix and stuff.  Then she did the trans-vag ultrasound.  I’m 18 weeks now and I haven’t been checked down there since…she just uses the hand held doppler to hear the heartbeat at each appointment.

I have my first appointment scheduled for when I’ll be 9 weeks.  The week before I go in for blood work, but my official first one is at 9 weeks.

I just had mine last week at 10w3d. They did a full exam and we heard the heartbeat with the doppler.
