How many weeks were you when you started wearing maternity clothes?

@SoontobeMrsAM:  I bought a pair of dress pants to attend a funeral at 10 weeks but probaby didn’t really need them yet although I was a lot more comfortable.  I started wearing maternity jeans to work all the time at 12 weeks.  I have a super short torso so there’s nowhere for it to go!  I know a lot of ladies can wait until later.

Edit:  I’m still in regular shirts.  I wear mostly tees and cardigans and other stretchy things so it hasn’t been a problem yet.

I’ve seen a few of these threads, and from what I gather it really differs so much from woman to woman. Some start nearly as soon as they get their positives due to bloat, and some don’t really need anything until close to 20 or more weeks.

For me, I’m 13 weeks today. Most of the pants that are higher cut are getting too snug or have been retired for now. Anything low-rise is still really comfortable, and I’m not in maternity tops at all yet.

ummm…. like 10 or 11 I think I finally bought a pair of jeans I could wear. I can still wear non maternity tops now at 22 weeks but not pants except pj’s.

@SoontobeMrsAM:  I bought my first pair of pants at 8 weeks because I was so bloated and everything was uncomfortable.

19-20 weeks is when I started wearing maternity. I didn’t necessarily NEED to, I was just more comfortable in them at that point.

I started wearing maternity jeans and leggings at 16 weeks simply for the comfort. I could still button my old pants but I wasn’t that comfy sitting down. I was busting out of my tops by far earlier than that though. I didn’t need actual maternity tops until just a few weeks ago – when my bump fully popped and my ribcage started to expand 🙂 I’ve gone up 2 bra sizes already – cup and band.

Regular pants were the first thing to go, but I wore mostly skirts and dresses pre-preg.  It was early 2nd tri when I switched.

Pants around 14 weeks (my work pants) and 18-19 weeks for my jeans.  I did the rubberband trick with my jeans but my work pants don’t work like that and they didn’t have any give/room at all.  I wore regular shirts until 21-22 weeks or so and I started wearing maternity shirts because I had ordered some.

I bought jeans at about 7-8 weeks. I’m 15 weeks now and will need to buy dress pants here in the next few weeks. I’ve bought a few maternity shirts because they were on massive sale and the extra length was helpful in covering up the maternity panel in the jeans 🙂

@SoontobeMrsAM:  I am almost 18 weeks and all of my clothes still fit… I have gained 4 lbs I think? Some of my skinny jeans are not comfortable anymore so I have stopped wearing them, but no Maternity clothes as of yet.

My BFF never even bought maternity clothes, just extenders for her pants! I bought some and I think I will buy some longer shirts to cover it, but I am hoping I can get away without buying maternity pants! They are EXPENSIVE!

8 weeks. I was just too uncomfortable. I also ‘popped’ relatively early. At 13 weeks people were asking me if I was pregnant.

Around 13 weeks.  I felt kind of silly, but dang it I was so uncomfortable in my regular clothes.

I needed maternity pants by 10 weeks due to bloat.  I didn’t need maternity tops until I was over halfway through the pregnancy (don’t remember exact week).
