Has anyone booked a Hawaiian honeymmon before?  How much should flights be?

I am going to go from NY to Maui from Maui to Kauai and then from Kauai back to NY.

The flight too and from NY i found is $750.

The interisland flight from maui to kauai i found for $100 (which seems reasonable).

Is that $750 flight reasonable or way too high?  That's the cheapest out there for my dates.

We are going to go to Maui and Kauai.  This is what I have found out so far.

Maui - People for the most part stay on the west side (by Kaanapali) or more towards the South side by Wailea.  On the Wailea side there is a Four Season and the Grand Wailea, but as I read more I think we are going to stay on the west side - it is closer to more things - hotel row, Lahaina and another small village - I forget the name - the Maui portion of our trip isn't going to be the total relaxation part so I think it will be fine - we are also going to do the "Road to Hana" one day.  As far as where we are staying it looks like the options are Hyatt, Westin, Sheraton - We might do the Westin or Hyatt ...if we do the Westin we can use our Starwood Reward Points.  There is also a Ritz, but from what I read its more North of Lahaina and secluded and its not right on the beach.

As far as Kauai goes, it seems like there is 2 main places to stay, the south shore and the north shore -  The north shore is apparently more green, more relaxing but it rains more - but I think it's more beautiful.  The south shore has more going on  - WE haven't decided yet..a little bit confused but I think we are leaning towards the North Shore.  There is a Westin Princeville and a St. Regis that look like good options on the north shore.

Where are you going?  Let me know if you found out any good info on hotels to stay at!

ive been to all the islands via a cruise.. they're beautiful! we weren't on our honeymoon but everyone thought we were.

we did pay a lot for our plane tickets - i think mostly because we waited too long?

    which month are you going?

my friends that are from hawaii said that the cheapest flight they've taken was about $450. the ticket i bought for hawaii in oct 2008 was about $1000+.  we also went the weekend of the kaui triathlon. maybe that's why it was expensive.

that sounds about right. We went from philly to Maui and it cost about 780. Are you looking at Bing.com? They ahve a price predicator which gauges whether or not flight costs are expected to go up.

Fi and I are going to Kauai for his brother's wedding in late February and coming back home early March.  We spent about 500 per person for tickets with no layovers but that might be bc of the time of year.  We went directly to the airline's website to buy our tickets, too - I think we're flying Continental but not too sure.

We went to the Big Island of Hawaii for our honeymoon last May and it was about $1500 per person (Business Class) from NYC/JFK.  You can't fly directly into Kona from NYC so there was a layover in LA.  One of our friends gave us his American Airlines miles as a wedding gift so that covered the upgrade--it was awesome!
