A friend of mine lives in Manhattan, and she and I were chatting about hair appointments, and the crazy difference in cost. I have been to NYC a few times, so I definitely understand the crazy difference in prices vs. here in Missouri.
So it made me curious, what do you spend at the salon? What’s average in your area?
I pay $15 for a cut, $55-$85 for full foil highlights (I just got my hair cut to my shoulders so last week I only paid $55 for my highlights.) I don’t really do my nails professionally, but last time I did, it was around $30 for acrylics.

here in Slidell, LA it is $35-$40 for a hair cut, $70+ for highlights, $27-$40 for acrylics (depending on who you go to!) and I am not sure about color because I don’t ever just get color

Good hair salons here cost 40-50 for a cut. Partial highlights 75+, full highlights 90+.
There is of course the option of First Choice (chain of hair dressers) and you can pay $15 for a cut and less for highlights but they never do it right. I prefer to pay the extra and feel like a million bucks when I walk out 🙂

I’m in Chicago – haircut is 60 where I go (which is actually a great deal for Chicago, I’ve gone to places where it’s 75 for a cut); I’m actually not sure on the exact price breakdown but sometimes I get all over color and sometimes I get all over color plus partial highlights and that can run me over 200 dollars total.

I am in the Mpls/St Paul area in MN. Depending on where you go a cut can cost you from $30-$100. Color can be anywhere from $70 and on up. The place I go to is also where a local news anchor goes (so pretty trendy). It costs me about $140 for cut and color.

Boston area here. I can get a cut as cheap as $25, quicky Asian places. The place I usually go is $45 which is a good deal to me. My most expensive cut was $70. For highlight, $125+.

I’m in NYC. Cut and single process color is $160ish I believe where I go. Mani/pedis are incredibly cheap here…I can get a mani/pedi in my neighborhood for $20. Eyebrow threading is $7.

haircut 50 is “low” (talking about longer hair longer than shoulders). Dye will put you back over 100 without a doubt.

I’m in DC, and paying less than $80 for a haircut is a steal for me. I’ve paid upwards of $200 for cut and color…

Upstate, NY here and I drop more than $100 each time I get my hair done. That normally includes a cut, color, sometimes highlights but not always and basic styling (normally just straightening since it’s the only time my hair is EVER straight). The average is about $125 a pop. As far as nails go, I normally just get a french mani since my natural nails are long enough. I’ve been trying out different places since I’ve yet to find anyone I like but they’ve all been around $25-$30.
