Mine is $1800 plus four meetings before the wedding ($425). both of my sisters had DOC's and they said it was the greatest thing they did for their weddings. Being in both of their weddings, I saw how much you really do need a DOC-otherwise my family would have gotten stuck with a lot of extra work...which I do not want at all. So I am going to say it's worth it.
My DOC is around $600. I found her through my local board on the knot. She is an engineer by day and a DOC on the side. She does a lot of weddings and has been really helpful so far. Maybe you can find a DOC through a local board or by word of mouth?
I am so glad that we hired her, she just told me about a great florist who is saving us money so I figure that she is paying for herself especially since I will have peace of mind on the big day!
Mine is $500 since she is relatively new, but her prices are going up for next season.
She's been a Godsend. I can't imagine not having her. It's already a stress-relief knowing she will be there to take care of everything from fluffing my train right before the walk down the aisle to making sure the reception decor is perfect. AND to know that my mom won't be stressed either. Worth a MILLION.
Mine is charging $35, not including the initial consultation, so I'm figuring around $500 for our DOC, which for a piece of mind on my wedding day is totally worth it!
I don't know yet, but my DOC looks great and I've heard great things about her! I am paying $500 and think that it's going to be more than worth it!
I am thinking I may need one. It only recently occured to me that my venue which is also a restaurant and will be serving lunch that day, when will I be able to decorate the venue as my wedding is 2.30pm-3pm followed by our photos with the reception starting at 6pm.
Mine is about $600 as well, but I lucked out, she's very reasonably priced for the area and everything else I saw was a lot higher. I'm thinking it may be the best $600 I've spent throughout the whole wedding budget. The more i think about it, you spend all this time and effort and $$$ on everything, whats a little more to ensure that you ENJOY yourself and are not worrying about every little thing the day of!
We just hired one, and she's a bit on the pricey side, at $1200, but that includes several meetings with her, including one on-site meeting, all of her time answering our questions (which is a lot), directing the rehearsal, ceremony, reception, setting up and cleaning up after, all sorts of recommendations (she directed us to our caterer), and peace of mind.
It's a total splurge for us, but in my mind, if my mom or I are going to be stressing about things on the wedding day, why the heck would we throw this party?!? So we're paying her to stress for us.
I won mine at a bridal show...so I'm getting my coordination for free! Woo! It includes the day of, and an hour for the rehearsal when you do it! Yesssss...
We're paying $350 for ours. She is setting up for 3 hours before the wedding (getting deliveries, checking centerpieces, placing seating cards, chair covers, etc.) staying for the ceremony and about an hour into the reception. We got an off-season rate because the wedding is in January. We're also in rural Ohio so things are generally less expensive.
What I would say helped me make the decision were the testimonials from the mothers on her website. They were so touching. Especially because I feel like it's the moms that feel so much stress about how things go the day of. I did it as a nice thing for my mom. Hopefully she appreciates it!
ohhh toothfairyb......im a DOC in Richmond and I only charge 400.00!! I would have LOVED to have helped you!!! you are getting married THIS WEEKEND!!! good luck!
Our was $600, but we negotiated with her and picked out the pieces of coordination we wanted. She will be on-sight from 12pm to 8pm, and included one day before meeting although that didn't happen because of a freak blizzard the only time we could make it to our destination venue.
My DOC comes with the venue, and I feel so blessed to have him. He is not only my coordinator before, but day of and he has saved my tail. We're getting married in TX but live in DC and he has done SOOOOOOO much for the wedding as I'm not there do make decisions.
I'm a huge believer in coordinators, and especially DOC because you just don't need that extra stress on your big day. I'll be sipping champagne, not running around making sure every candle is in the right place... thats his job

I'm so on the fence about hiring a DOC. Everyone I've looked at is nearing $1000 (or more) for DOC (with consultations the last month). Everyone talks about how they wished they had one or how they couldn't live without theirs, but at this point, 1000 is a huge chunk of change for my budget wedding.
What are you paying? and for those who are married - was it worth it?
