we are having only day of, not month, not rehersal dinner just day and ours id $500. She is also always available for questions and advice and so far she has been awesome!
Hm. I am curious about this question as well!
I can tell you that one lady that is recommended by a fellow Bee from Hudson Valley, NY (1.5 hrs outside of NYC) quoted me 1K.
Yet another DOC that comes highly recommended from a lot of Bees located in NYC is only like ~$800.
This is what one of the DOC stated as their services:
This will include an on-site meeting with you at your convenience prior to the wedding to discuss the details of the wedding; a meeting with all vendors to outline their responsibilities; a one to two hour rehearsal; wedding day schedules and schematics for all involved parties; orchestration of the wedding ceremony; placement and delivery of necessary ceremony items; orchestration of the reception with delivery and placement of necessary items; vendor relations beginning 30 days before the wedding through the day of the wedding; amenity baskets for restrooms and distribution of final vendor payments as required. This will also include one assistant, in addition to myself.
We are talking to one now, and are likely going to hire her. She is just starting out too, in Pittsburgh PA!, so we will end up paying her $350 for 8 hours of service on the day of.
Mine was $500 unlimited questions, rehersal and picking something up the day of the wedding.
@amysue,
Unless you absolutely love your DOC and/or have already booked him/her I would keep looking! The DOC that quoted me at about ~800 is in NYC and comes highly recommended. 2300 seems really high for a DOC.
On another note I really want a DOC to take some of the worries off my shoulders the day of. We have more than enough family willing to help out. But I want them to enjoy too! But I can't find money in the budget for a DOC even at $800 so if anyone can suggest one under that (~like 500) in Hudson Valley or NYC I would greatly appreciate it! Do you girls think they would be willing to knock the prices if I ask them to come in only 2 weeks prior?
I am considered hiring a doc, and I received 2 quotes from 2 different wedding planners. One was 2200 for basically just day of duties (she didn't go into much detail) and the other was 2000 for an initial meeting, attendance at each final vendor meeting, help picking out songs for ceremony, unlimited answers for questions (I think by phone), rehearsal planning, 8 hours of doc, and many many more services (she gave me 2 pages worth of services they offer).
Well, she is doing more than just day-of stuff, and I thought her price was pretty reasonable. Still... only $800 would've been nice! : P Oh well. I'm going to be really happy to have somebody else worrying about all the scheduling and set-up and take-down and what-have-you. I guess I'm just on the high end, price-wise.
We're paying $450 for 2 in person meetings, rehearsal assistance, timeline development, 10 hours on the day of including ceremony/reception setup (need to check if she helps with breakdown too) and making sure everything is running smoothly =).
i decided on a DOC a month before our wedding and it has definitely helped keep me calm. i'm paying her $100 for the whole day and then some. :) how you ask?? well, i put an ad on craigslist looking for anyone that wanted experience or wanted to expand their portfolio for little to no cost. i also said that i'd recommend them to future brides if they did a great job and could use any photos they want for promoting their business. i got lots of responses, but only returned emails to a chosen few. i did have a few offers below $100, but they just didn't seem as serious about the whole thing, so i didn't pick them. craigslist is a little scary, i know. but if you know how to do your research and if you trust your gut feelings about people, you should be okay.
@ Irmango
I was thinking of doing this same thing, where did you post it on craigslist ( Jobs/services?)
I got quoted by a wedding planner 300 for day of, not too bad for taking all the stress off me that day, if I cant fond someone I trust on craigslist i am definetely going to hire her.
I'm paying $2000 but she has been helping me with making my wedding concept/theme cohesive and keeps me focused.
i posted under the 'gigs' section. i believe you pay a small fee if you post in the 'jobs/services' section
good luck with your search!
We're paying 1K for 3 DOC's (one in charge, 2 assistants) to be present at the reception and to attend the rehearsal as well. This also includes a meeting to develop a wedding-day timeline which will be sent to every vendor (by the DOC) 2 weeks prior to the wedding. She will also confirm with every vendor right before the wedding. They are available for set-up, delivery of OOT bags, take-down, moving gifts to our room, directing guests, and helping with anything else that comes up that day.
This was not in our initial budget but I started to get really worried about having no one to 'go to' on the actual day. We decided to cut our costs with the cake and go for a cheaper cake and put the money toward the DOC. Even though its 1k it hasn't felt that bad b/c it's paid in 4 payments of $250, and we're alraedy done with 2 of them. My stress level also decreased dramatically knowing that there will be someone there to help with things.

We had a family friend be a DOC for my shower and it went so smoothly and it was nice that we didn't have to worry about anything the day of. She used to be an event planner for a non-profit so she did an excellent job. We are highly considering hiring her as our DOC for the day of the wedding. However, because she doesn't do it for a living, she does not have set prices. Also, since she is a family friend, she is being weird about taking money from us!
So...How much is your Day of Coordinator charging you? What services are they providing you prior to the wedding if any? I know every area of the country is different with pricing so it would be helpful to state where you live too!
Thanks!
