How much are you planning to spend on your honeymoon and where/how long are you going for?
I'm trying to get an idea of what is average these days!!
TIA
i think there was a poll around here somewhere, but we got a great deal, $1500 for a 7 night cruise (paid for both of us) in a verandah cabin, and that included tax, all gratuities and $25 shipboard credit; in addition to honeymoon funds that were gifted to us (apx $250) we only spent about $100 in incidentals (taxi, wine, souvenirs).
5000 for a two week honeymoon.
ZERO. :( And, not because we can't afford it, because we are self-employed and I still can't figure out how we're going to pull off a few days for the wedding out of state. I'm envious of everyone's honeymoon plans!
Around 5000Pounds for a 2 week honeymoon to 2 cities in Australia. Including airfare and hotels but not extras (day trips, etc). However we are having a honeymoon registry.
We're going to NYC for 5 days. So far we've paid for our hotel which was a steal at $550, thanks to our Starwood preferred membership. We plan to see a broadway show- so thats about $250 and will probably eat out and go to museums almost every day. So, I guess we're looking at about $1500 or under.
We're going to stay on the river in San Antonio in a cute little Bed and Breakfast for $700 for 6 nights. We'll be going to all the sites near the river and my FI is really into aquariums and fish so we'll probably hit up Sea World. It will be right around $1500 when it is all said and done with.
We're planning a 12-night cruise with 2 extra days on each end in Venice. Cruise stops in Venice, Egypt, Israel, Croatia and Athens.
Total we're budgeting for the cruise, airfare, excursions, hotel rooms and spending money is just about $7000. It's a splurge and by no means "average" even for us, but it's the trip of a lifetime.
We are probably atypical, but we are going on a month long honeymoon to Italy, France, and Switzerland, which will probably ring in to about 10 K for the both of us. We have been saving for a long time for this trip, and when we got engaged, we just decided the time was right to do it, and will make it our honeymoon. I am sooo excited! But if I wasn't doing this trip, I would probably take a two week long adventure somewhere. We did Costa Rica for 2.5 weeks after university for $2500 apiece.
Valhalla, I'm so jealous! That sounds sooo fun. I think we'll end up spending between $2K and $5K for a week-two week honeymoon. We're still figuring it out.
8 nights at the Hilton Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and airfare all for...
$200! We are paying for all of it with Hilton hotel points and frequent flyer miles. The $200 was the fee we had to pay for using the air miles for both our plane tickets.
$325 for 3 nights in a cabin in the Ozarks, plus kayak rentals, 3 more hotel nights ($300ish) and food, drinks, gas money, etc. We'll be under $1000 for a week I'm sure!
We spent $5000-5500 on a 9 day/8 night trip to the Dominican Republic in Punta Cana. This was an all inclusive resort but the price also included our airfare from CA. Totally work it!
AppleBlossom,
I am from the Ozarks! What part are your coming to (town-wise). I think you should have a blast, it is so pretty in the Spring!
We're staying at my parents' beach house, so, I guess zero dollars!
Wow, I love all the diversity! Keep them coming!
The FI and I had really wanted to do Costa Rica, but when we really got down to it...he doesn't want to spend that much (the all - inclusive resort with excursions built in was going to be $3500 + airfare)....He would rather have the extra money to pay bills, save for house, etc.
@Mirunzou - don't do a resort then, and you can go for CHEAP!! FI and I went for 2.5 weeks just after university, $2500 each, including airfare from Eastern Canada (close to $900). One thing I thought would make a great honeymoon is to visit Montezuma, on the Peninsula de Nicoya, for a whole week. You can rent a beach house there for next to nothing. Of course, you would have to cook your own food or go out to the local restaurants. But it was SOOOOO amazing there. We went snorkeling at the nearby Isla Tortuga, boogie boarding at the beach, hiked to waterfalls, rented ATVs - we were NEVER bored. We also did lots of relaxing, as there were tons of hammocks around. All the locals recommended Montezuma, and we changed our whole trip itenerary to go, and were so glad we did.
You can look at this link to find out some more information about Montezuma.

We're doing a 4 night cruise on the Royal Carribian out of Miami to Cozumel. We're paying a total of about $1250.00 for that, & that's not including off-shore excursions & food that's not included on-board. My guess is we'll spend a couple extra hundred dollars. I'm so excited!
We are planning a cruise to Greece, Egypt and Turkey... Not sure the cost yet but I am thinking it will probably be aboue 4000 for return flights there from Canada and about 5000 for the cruise... And I dont want to think about how much I will spend over there! lol. I get married in 4 months but we are doing a destination so we didn't want to book the whole 3 weeks in a row... plus we are buying a new house right around the wedding so I'd say right after we will be pretty broke! :)
it was probably around 5000-6000. We didn't add it all up in the end because once we got to Hawaii things were much more expensive than we thought they'd be and we knew we were blowing our food budget out of the water. So our initial budget was 5000, but then food was a ton, I got sick and had to pay $250 to go to a Dr. at 9pm, and I lost my entire rented snorkel set to a huge ocean wave and had to pay the place for a new one. Yeah, a lot of expensive things happened on our trip, but we had fun in the end.
We are doing a minimoon at the Marriott in Horseshoe Bay, TX. Our budget is $750- which includes 2 nights at the resort, a wine tour, a massage, and all our meals.
Our honeymoon is $3195 for 6 nights and 7 days at the Excellence Playa Mujeres. Our flights from Houston were $600 (for both of us). It's all inclusive but I am sure we will spend a little extra on transportation and any fun things we decide to do offsite.
@Lampshade We went to Excellence Playa Mujeres for our honeymoon too!!
We loved it!! We stayed in the Rooftop terrace room and it ran us close to $6,000 for 6 nights and 7 days.
If you want to you can check out my review (warning: it's LONG) on Trip Advisor about it.
You will LOVE LOVE LOVE it there! I'm excited for you!
We plan a 7-night cruise to the Caribbean which will be about $2,000, plus airfare will bring it up to $2,600. But that doesn't include spending money for excursions.
My dream trip would've been Greece, but we can't afford it right now.
@QueenBecca- we are in one of the rooftop rooms too, just not in the "Excellence Club" or whatever. I think we got a discount because it's summer (slow season) and we booked around the time of swine flu outbreak :)
I have read so many fabulous things about it. My FI has to take a big test for medical school just after our wedding so we have to put our trip on hold until June. I think it will make it that much more enjoyable.
I will definitely check out your review!
A week in San Francisco & Sonoma, staying at the Fairmont in both locations. Our airfare was free (miles), and the hotels were about $400/night each. But we spent a lot of money on extras - dinners out, spa treatments, a limo for a wine tour, wine purchases in Sonoma and Napa, ballet tickets in San Francisco...so it was probably about $5000 when it's all added up.
Ours is about $3000, $2500 for Couples All-Inclusive in Jamaica and about $300 for flights because we're using frequent flyer miles for our tickets. We're staying 5 nights 6 days.
we are taking a 7 night alaskan cruise and staying one night in seatlle before the cruise leaves. our total including everything will be about 3500 for the both of us...
I don't want to spend over 2K. Planning on going to an all inclusive in the carribbean or hawaii for 5 to 7 days. Maybe??
We just booked our week-long honeymoon to Rome and Venice for $3500, which includes airfare, hotel and transfers.
we haven't made ANY plans about the honeymoon yet but have agreed that we'll go to this INCREDIBLE, fairly secluded villa in St. Lucia with beautiful views of the mountains and sea and a real 'garden of eden' feel about it; the place was constructed to flow so effortlessly in and out of the natural scenery that surrounds it. i have had this villa bookmarked literally since i was 15 years old, saying i'd go there on my honeymoon. well...lo and behold...
since i've daydreamed about this before, i know it'll probably ring up to about $5k for a week and a half. we're not going to do many $$$ activities there: just RELAX after four excruciating years at an insanely rigorous college, enjoy each others' company, swim in the waterfalls and explore the rain forest. so we'll save a lot that way.
We're budgeting for 5K, but hopefully we won't go over it...or hopefully come near it. We're going to try for a tropical location in an all-inclusive resort, so we'll see.
way too much. we are kinda splitting the honeymoon into a week before and 12 days after, long story, so spliting is is making it easier to pay for, and we're doing a honeymoon resitry for the second part but it will end up around 8k in total. Total splurge, will probably never take a trip this pricey but parents are paying for wedding and we are really into travel, even having some travel adventure themes woven in. I've heard a lot of stories of people taking rediculously amazing honeymoons and though they were damaging financially they are never regretted.
we are doing Sandals Grande in St. Lucia...air was about $1200 and the resort is about $4000. But we figure since it is all inclusive and adutls only, it is worth the price tag.
We'll probably spend about $4,000 - $5,000 for a two week honeymoon in California. Starting in San Diego for a few days and driving up the Coast to San Fran for a one or two night stay...and then off to Wine Country for a week! :)
13K which is ridiculous to think about since the air was minimal (used my airline miles) but it is the trip of a lifetime- 1 week safari in South Africa and 1 week on the beach in Mauritius
$0. :( We refuse to use credit and paid cash for the wedding, which wiped us out and left nothing for the honeymoon. We're currently saving to make up for it with a honeymoon/vacation this summer.
