Hair: we got a half day rate of $750, which comes out to $150 for me and each of my 4 bridesmaids. My mom and FI's mom aren't having their hair done (they both have very short hair).

My makeup artist is charging $225 for the bride and $85 for each additional face, as long as we have over 5 people total. If we have four or under, they're $95 each.

Neither of these include trial prices (hair was $75, makeup was $150).

My sister booked my appt for me (what a nice sister I have!). It's $200 for bride's hair, including trial, and I think $50 for makeup, but I'm DIYing my makeup.

My hair & makeup will be done by the same person.  She's charging $100 for one hair and makeup trial.  $1000 for a set package of 10 hours, which incl. hair & make-up for 6 ladies on the wedding day.  She will travel to the hotel in the morning, and then go to the reception for unlimited 'touch-up's.

    I'm paying $1070 for:

    • Hair/airbrush makeup trial for me (at the makeup artist's studio)
    • Hair/airbrush makeup on the day of the wedding (at my wedding location)
    • Hair/regular makeup for my mom and FI's mom (at my wedding location)

I'm planning on having FI's sister do it because she is part-owner in a salon. I think she normally charges about $30-50 for it, but she might do it for free. I don't quite know yet. My mom will do my sister's hair and makeup and I'm pretty sure the other girl will do her own or something. I'd do mine, but I'm pretty much all thumbs when it comes to that stuff. I'll probably do my own makeup after getting a "trial" done at a department store.

I got a steal!  I just did my trial run today and she only charged me $20.  Wedding day hair is $60.  So, $80 total for me.  2 out of 3 of my bridesmaids will be getting their hair done as well for $60 each.  My sister/MOH will be doing my makeup and have my BM as a back up since she's an estithian (spelling?).  I lucked out!

    to gammongirl:

Pricing deferrs significantly with regions~ NY and CA will see higher rates. Since you are in NY, I suggest only referring to the NY brides~! especially those closer to your zipcode~ price comps is only really useful if you look within your area. I'd recommend sending a PM to the helpful NY brides who responded and also ask how they liked their vendor! as a bride, that was the most useful info for me~ ^^

    good luck~

    HAIR
    Short-hair wash and set: $55
    Updos and blowouts: $85

    MAKE-UP
    $60 per person
$40 trial (no tips accepted on trials)

One of the things I love about my salon and my make-up team is they charge based on the service, not bride vs. BM. I have short-ish curly hair and there's not much involved with doing my hair. But a traditional bridal updo with trial would have run me $150 total, had that been what I wanted.

I searched everywhere for a decent hair/make-up place and couldn't find anything even reasonably affordable. So, we are doing our own mani/pedis and my regular beautician and two of her friends are making it a destination trip.

    They are charging:

    $50 per person for hair

    $25 per person for make-up

Plus: hotel room for two nights and rodeo tickets for the three of them on Saturday night. (Will run me about $280 after taxes).

They are going to do ten people total (bride, MOH, 5 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, and the flowergirl).

The best quote I had received prior to that was $145 per person for hair/makeup/manicure from a nice salon in Reno who offered a group discount, and another quote at $975 + two hotel rooms from a contact of my DOC.

all updos were the same at my salon, no matter who the person was.  I think they were around $65.

I did my makeup myself.  But it would have cost $50 at the salon.  I did a trial with them and that's how much it cost.  The trial turned out terribly.  It was airbrush makeup.  I'm surprised to see so many people here are doing airbrush makeup.  I thought it looked terrible on me.  If I hadn't done the trial and just did that makeup on my wedding day all of my photos would have been ruined.

as a stylist in Michigan, some of these prices make me want to ship out to NYC or California and do only wedding hair and makeup. WOW do they make bank.

thankfully I am a trained and too nervous to let anyone else touch my hair or face. looks like i can find another way to spend the money.

WOW... maybe I am a cheapskate, but I found 3 different beautifcians willing to do all of the wedding party's hair and make up both for between 50-60 dollars each person. I did the hair/make up trial at 30 dollars and it turned out really good, but I do want to change it up a bit. I went with a girl from a salon for 50 for both my hair/make up, so there will be 3 of us getting it done from her. And I am in southern california.
