Hi, and welcome!
For our flowers (just outside of Washington, D.C.), we got a variety of quotes from florists. For tall centerpieces, the low-end quote was $150 each and the high-end quote was $300 each. But it entirely depends on what kind of flowers you're looking for - in season, not in season, width and height of the arrangements, etc. I think it would be difficult to say what an average would be.
Invitations largely also depend on what you're getting and how many. For my first wedding (I'm a second-time bride), we had custom engraved Crane's invitations. It was about $800 for 50 invitations. Crane's website has a pretty good tool you can use to estimate cost. (Which is why for my second wedding, we decided to go with weddingpaperdivas.com!)
Good luck planning!
We used www.invitesite.com and the Angelicia invitation for our Fall 2009 wedding, printed and assembled at home (printing is pretty cheap by them too) and it only cost $500. Our friends and family genuinely said it was the prettiest invitation they had ever seen in real life!
Okay, sorry, also we are having 16 tables 1/2 tall, 1/2 short, a fully decorated trellis, 6 bouquets, bouts for the guys and various reception decorations for a bit over $3400 and these are really big beautiful colorful fall flowers!
Geez. This can go all over the map.
We budgeted $2,000 for invitation suites and $7,500 for flowers.
Here is my thought process on how we had to budget:
Budgeting sites like the Knot tell you have to spend 50% on the reception, with our budget we had to spend more like 80% on the ceremony and reception. So we had to spend less on all other aspects just to cover pp costs (photography, invitations, flowers) but we did manage and found it was important to get a videographer ($2600) from Well Spun!
Hi Everyone,
Thank you so much for all of your great advice! Any chance you guys have experience working with Arcadia and/or Diana Gould? i have to choose between the two florists. I've heard that typically, DG is much nicer, but much more expensive...I know the basics: stay in season, use local flowers, but at the risk of sounding cheesy or rude, what kinds of budgets did you give them and what did it produce?
Thank you , :)
I'm not sure about the flowers but if you are looking to cut down budget on invitations, there are many companys that you can order from online that are still custom but a little more price conscious. Also, you can always produce your own paper. I grew up in chester county so I know reception spaces can get pricey....save the money for that if you can :-) Good luck!
Depending on how high end you want your invitations to be, you can get some good deals on www.sandstone.cceasy.com
I found the petite ecru and petite white a fabulous bargain. You can fiddle around w/wording, create custom wording, change the front and print it out so you can visualize the invitation. I highly recommend them. They offer 25% off on most products except the ones above I just spoke of. But the discount allows you to go a higher end for $20.00 more than the budget one. However, I dearly love the petite invitation and didn't care that it didn't qualify for a discount!!
Trust me, you won't be disappointed. The consultant, Jane answers her email within 24 hours and is helpful with wording if you ask.
I 100% recommend them!!

Hi fellow Bee's,
This is my first post, so I'm very excited! I know these questions are very subjective, but I am still interested in your feedback!
Flowers- I am getting married in Westchester in July 2010. I would like some tall centerpieces, but nothing too ornate as well as some low cubes with hydrangeas and lots of candles. In a county where centerpieces can sometimes hit $500+ (def not my budget) what is the 'average' cost of flowers: tall center pieces, chuppah, bouquet, etc and how much did it get you?
Invitations- Again, totally subjective. Is there an average for invitations-? I was thinking about $2000-$2800 for something custom-esq from Crane's...Any tips of the trade would be greatly appreciated!
xoxo
