I am constantly hearing about brides who didn't eat anything on their wedding day, barely ate, didn't eat enough, didn't have time to eat their dinner during their reception and I am baffled by this! I remember being told this before our wedding and I kept telling everyone that wasn't going to be me and they were like YEAH RIGHt youll see....
Well, I ate SO much on my wedding day. For breakfast I had 2 croissants and some fruit. Throughout the day I had croissants, cheese and crackers, fruit and a couple granole bars along with water, juice and champagne. Then for dinner I was able to eat lots of bread, a full salad and my entire plate of food. I even had our dessert (besides cake) which was chocolate covered strawberries. I am never too nervous to eat (I love food) and I made sure that I was able to eat because I knew I'd be hungry and wanted to make sure I ate what we paid for!
How much did you eat on your wedding day?
I had breakfast... which I can't seem to remember what was.
And then I ate a little bit at the reception (brunch), but my tummy was still nervous feeling so I didn't eat alot.
I did eat dinner though once DH and I got to our honeymoon location... It was nummy! =)
I was so full by the time dinner came I couldn't eat it lol.
Pastry + Coffee for breakfast, Chick fil chicken nuggets a for lunch, I prob ate 8-10 passed appetizers (venue saved some for us), ravioli (1st course), salad, a sorbet intermezzo and cake. They sent the dinner to our room (NY Strip + Sea Bass) and I ate the sea bass at like 1 in the morning haha.
Breakfast I had:
Scrambled Eggs
1 slice of toast with butter
Coffee
Lunch:
1/4 of a quesadilla
Wasn't hungry for some reason
Dinner:
Almost nothing.
I wanted to eat, I had time to eat, the food was AMAZING but I just couldn't eat. I don't know if the dress was too tight on my stomach or if it was nerves or if it was adrenaline but I just could not eat.
I was starving when I got to cocktail hour, had 1 or 2 nibbles and then wasn't hungry any more.
Same with dinner. Had 1 bite of steak and fish and each of the sides and couldn't eat any more.
Also only probably drank 1 glass of champagne total all night. Again, not sure why, had every opportunity to, people were offering me things all night, I just couldn't.
Thankfully the caterer sent most of the food home with MIL so I had it for dinner the next night in heaping portions!
For breakfast I had a really delicious hearty meal that my mom made.
Then I didn't eat lunch, but between the ceremony and reception we snuck off to a little pizza joint and had some pizza by the slice!
Then I only had 2 appies during our whole reception. I was so busy chatting with people everywhere I hardly ate anything and I'm honestly annoyed at myself for it!
@PitBulLover: I was totally like you. I ate bagels and cream cheese for breakfast with some mimosa's. Then I had panera ordered in for lunch. I brought snacks with me too haha, so I had a granola bars and some pretzels during pics. We were both able to eat our bread, salad, meals, and dessert! I even snagged a piece of late night pizza! I was definitely not starving at all :-)
I ate nothing. Literally, nothing. All day. I have no idea how I didn't pass out!
But let me tell you, as soon as we got to our hotel room that night, we ordered room service for me right away!
@KatNYC2011: well that sucks you couldnt eat! But at least you got to enjoy it later on. I would've been pissed if I couldn't have eaten my delicious food!!
@.twist.: ok Im totally jealous that you went to a pizza place in between! Though I would've been terrified of getting sauce on my dress.
I am an eater, so what I am about to say still shocks me. I didn't eat that much on my wedding day. (GASP!)
I always thought that I would, even though I hear about how people don't eat much because of nerves, but I swore that wouldn't happen to me.
When I first woke up I ate a leftover pancake and had a starbucks latte. I knew I should definitely eat while I could just in case nerves did kick in. My friend made me egg whites but I only at 3 bites of them.
For lunch we made a pizza, which I normally devour, but I only ate 2 bites of it. As the ceremony drew closer, my appetite grew smaller. I barely chugged down half a mimosa and my mom tried to give me some cheese but it didn't sound good at all.
After the ceremony I had brought my favorite chips on the limo but most of the wedding party ate them all, leaving me with only a small handful.
At the reception I sat down with a salad and a plate full of food. I ate my salad but then got pulled away for things. I kept coming back to my food only to get pulled away again so I finally sat down and ate the best thing on my plate before having to run off again. When I got back my plate was gone.
I ate the one bite of cake that we fed each other and a soft pretzel which we served around 9:30.
After it was all over I found the extra cake and ate a piece but that was about it. It sounds like a lot but they were all just little bites at a time. I actually felt ok and had enough energy, though. Try to eat if you can!
I had brunch while getting my hair and make-up done. It consisted of mimosas, fruit, and a subway sandwich platter.
Then I ate both appetisers and the full meal (we had a buffet and I filled my plate and ate it all) at the reception.
DH and I also ordered delivery pizza to our hotel room during the wedding night.
For breakfast I had an enormous chocolate muffin, some fruit a smoothie and 2 monsters. For lunch (at the wedding) I ate some fruit, jello and like 2 meatballs (sniff sniff) I was so mad that I didn't get to eat more of our delicious food! and for dinner after the wedding my hubby went to the office of the place we stayed and got some burritos, cup of noodles chips and other assorted junk food and snacks.
@PitBulLover: I kept saying I was going to eat, that I loved my food and I wouldn't be one of those brides who didn't eat.
I had plenty of opportunity but just could not. I didn't feel sick or full I just couldn't really eat!
There are some apps I did miss out on that I'm a bit upset about, but as long as my guests enjoyed themselves that's what counts.
Ah yes I'm forgetting to mention that we ordered room service at the hotel. It was a cheese and crackers and soft pretzels with different mustards spread. It was delicious.
@icedchaitea: how did you eat nothing?! Did you try to eat? How were you not starving??
@acingthelace: well even though you didnt eat much at least you at a little bit here and there!!
For me it was hard to remember to drink water. It was so hot out and I wasn't even thinking about it, but luckily my bridesmaids and mom kept forcing me to drink water. I was happy they did that!
@PitBulLover: I didn't drink water either! I think I was paranoid about having to pee.
When we got to the hotel my parents had arranged for chocolate and champagne to be in our room. We did drink that and eat the chocolates (unfortunately there was no room service option).
All of the girls got ready in a hotel room, and we had nibbly things to eat all morning (veggies and dip, fruit platter, cookies, mini-muffins, etc.). The hotel also had a free breakfast that my girls enjoyed. I picked a bit at our in-room snacks, but didn't have much other than a glass of champagne. Too nervous!
Between the ceremony and the reception hubs and I had champagne in the limo. There were no apps left when we got to the reception at the end of the cocktail hour, so didn't eat until dinner. I had salad, most of my entree and bread - by this point I was starvin marvin!
Even though my nerves calmed down after the ceremony, I think the combination of my dress being really heavy and all the excitement, I was thirsty more than anything. I just remember drinking mostly water as the night went on... only had a few glasses of wine!
@KatNYC2011: yes I didnt want to pee either!!! In the end I only had to pee twice while wearing my dress. Once before the ceremony and once during the reception. Neither time was an issue because I sat facing the toilet and had someone hold the back of my dress up. Worked like magic.
@PitBulLover: I didn't end up going at all!
I was in the dress from 2pm until 10:30-11pm. I think I was a bit dehydrated!
I had hardly anything. Breakfast I had a cup of hot tea, and then my sister brought me a bagel and latte from Starbucks.
I had a cheese platter while getting ready, but I didn't eat any of it.
Dinner....I think I ate a meatball (our caterer is known for their meatballs) but that's it.
Let me tell you, the next morning I woke up STARVING, and we went to a greasy diner and pigged out :-)
I made a plate of food and tasted everything but didnt really eat much. I was sick for several days before and after the wedding so I barely nibbled at food throughout all of the events.
This was of course great in that my dress fit wonderfully and I didn't feel fat or bloated, but I definitely would have enjoyed eating a little more.
Oh, I ate.
I had bagels and sandwich platters delivered to my room while getting ready for me and my bridesmaids - had some of that, some mimosas too.
At my wedding I ate every course.
After the wedding my husband and I ate some leftovers sandwiches.
I drank whatever because peeing was easy in my dress and I had my own private bathroom.
I definitely ate.
I had a croissant, eggs, and fruit for brunch. I also had my full plate of food during dinner. I was REALLY disappointed that I didn't get any food during cocktail hour but cest la vie.
i made sure to eat a big, healthy breakfast with lots of protein! i had eggs and potatoes. then for lunch i had a veggie sandwich and maybe some other snacks, i can't remember! our venue coordinator stopped dh and i before going in to the cocktail hour to get us hor d'oerves and drinks because he rightly knew that once we stepped in we wouldn't get a chance to eat, so i ate at least one of each app, and then at dinner i ate most my salad and entree. and then some cupcake too.
after nearly fainting at a dress fitting i knew i had to eat good on my wedding day. normally eating a healthy amount is no problem (eating too much is sometimes the problem), but i woke up so stressed on my wedding day that i thought i was going to puke. and i had been sick and my throat still hurt to swallow. somehow though i managed to eat about half a cheese veggie omlette, with some sort of carbs (bagel or toast maybe), and lots of juice for breakfast. i dont remember having a specific lunch, but i was nibbling on cheese and fruit while getting ready at the spa. possibly a croissant? when it came for dinner, i ate my salad, most of my main course and dessert and then i drank lots of pina coladas! and i was feeling MUCH better!
I was so terrified I was going to be starving all day because everyone kept telling me I wasn't going to have a chance to eat anything. Oh my goodness, I ate sooo much!
For breakfast I had some banana nut bread with peanut butter frosting :) (Love my momma!)
I snacked on some crackers throughout the morning. Then our groomsmen (bless their hearts) decided to make a run for burgers. So I got a burger and a Diet Dr. Pepper for lunch. Lol my mom covered me in paper towels so I wouldn't get anything on my dress.
I actually got to sit down with my wedding party and eat all of my dinner! Then I had to sample the chocolate fountain of course! Then we cut the cake and had that! Then towards the end of the reception we brought out a birthday cake for my nephew whose birthday was that day, so I had some birthday cake. Lol and then at like midnight my husband and I went and had Village Inn with my sisters.
My SIL was a total saint the day of my wedding and completely took care of me. :) She made sure I ate a good breakfast of fruit, muffins, and coffee and she stocked my necessities bag with water and snacks. My mom took us out to lunch before the ceremony where I downed a vegan burger and a plate full of chips, too. At the reception, we unfortunately missed our whole cheese table (lame), but ate both courses of dinner.
The only thing I was disappointed about is that we each only got one piece of cake. :( We had three tiers with three different flavors, and I was hoping to get a slice of each, lol. Unfortunately, by the time, we got back to the cake table after dancing and taking more pictures, only one flavor was left.
I ate. I woke up like 2 hrs early because I couldn't sleep so I ordered room service and got scrambled eggs and toast and coffee for breakfast. Then I went out to lunch with my mom and bridesmaids after we got our hair done. I got a chicken wrap and fries. I ate prob a little more than half. I didn't eat a ton of dinner because I was too excited, but still probably like 1/3-1/2 of a normal sized plate of food. And then after the wedding my parents ordered room service to our hotel room for us with cookies and chocolate covered fruit and we totally snacked on that.
I didn't eat a lot and I think it was nerves! I just wasn't hungry and I was just anxious for it to be time already!
I had green tea from Starbucks in the morning, a little fourth of a subway sandwich while getting ready and a lot of water. Right before the ceremony I could tell I needed to eat something so I had an energy bar. I wasn't very hungry by the time it came for dinner, I was too happy and excited! I did eat one of our cupcakes though :)
The best man and his wife packed up a bunch of food for us to take back to our hotel though and we ended up eating roasted potatoes, bread and tri-tip at like 3am. It was delicious!
I was supposed to have breakfast with my BMs at the hotel but we weren running a little late since we had to go get the reception hall set up, so I went straight to the hair stylist while they were having breakfast. I ate a couple fo granola bars that I had in my bag. After that I had a teeny bit of the food at the reception but kept getting distracted by different things. I only realized I was starving when the reception was over and we were at our hotel so we went to a local diner and bought a sandwich and fries
I had tea and some fruit around 5am, mimosa's and a half a tea biscuit while getting ready, various appetizers that people kept handing me at the cocktail hour (my bridesmaids were great with making sure I was eating), my whole dinner, and of course I had to have dessert. So I ate good! My mom always said she never ate and I knew I didn't want to miss out on our great food!
For breakfast I think I had a bagel half with cream cheese and some fruit.
Much later I had some roll up slices we provided during our pictures
During the reception I had a few bites of the passed appetizers that the caterer put in the bridal suite, but then never ate anything else! So sad I missed 95% of our food. But I just wasnt hungry between the excitement and the tight corset dress!
And then some meatballs at the hotel (we provided a few trays of meatballs for the guests at the hotel bar after the wedding)
I was in the 'didn't pee' camp either. I think I was so hot and sweaty dancing around, my body sucked up all the fluid I did drink.
As for food: b'fast was a tortilla - w/ maybe some cheese around 9am.
Snack of grapes and water around 2:30-ish.
Appetizers they saved for us around 6:30pm w/ my first drink. (They were supposed to save us some of each type, but we only got 2 of the 4 - suck!)
Full dinner: salad, entree.
More drinks with dinner and dancing.
Didn't get much more than a bite of my cake, unfortunately....
Another drink at our hotel around 1 or 2am.... loved the chocolate covered strawberries in our room!
I ate plenty on my wedding day. LOL The 4 weeks leading up to my wedding day were the issue. During that period of time I had no appetite whatsoever. But on the day of our rehearsal, my appetite came to life and I was able to enjoy every morsel. For breakfast on the morning of our wedding Mr. LK and I we had fresh grapefruit, veggie fritattas, and english muffins with homemade strawberry-blueberry jam. I hosted a bridesmaid lunch in my suite, but I was far more interested in the homemade cream puffs that a good friend made for me. During cocktail hour we had a server assigned just to Mr. LK and I. She did an amazing job of making sure we had a constant supply of food and drinks. And then I ate all 4 courses at dinner.
Now I feel like one of those brides who didn't eat! And I thought I was pretty good.
For breakfast, I had a bowl of cereal.
I skipped lunch because I was getting my hair and makeup done, then it was time to leave.
When we got to the reception, DH and I went through the buffet line first, and I literally inhaled my plate. It was so delicious, and I was starving!
The only dessert I had was the bite of cake DH fed me.
Don't worry--I made up for it over the next few days by eating everything in sight!
@PitBulLover: Yes, thank goodness or I wouldn't have made it! It's good that you had bridesmaids who gave you water--it's easy to forget to drink it, especially if you are drinking alcohol! (not saying you were)
I honestly don't remember what I ate that day. I just know that my bridesmaids/MOH kept giving me food. I think I even had calamari at one point in the day...haha!
I ate a fair amount i think. A full breakfast, a snack mid day, a few hor d's after the ceremony and most of the dinner.
@PitBulLover: haha.... It didn't even dawn on me that I might've gotten tomato sauce on my dress. LOL. It was so delicious too. He gave it to us for free because it was our wedding day! He even made us fancy garlic cheese bread which was SO GOOD. he was such a nice little man!
I think I had toast for breakfast? I didn't eat much, it was something that was shoved in my face and I was told to eat it.
Before the ceremony, I had a couple of crackers. I have a lot of stomach problems, and I didn't want to tempt fate by over-indulging in our cheese and cracker tray, lol.
However, I did eat a moderate amount at the reception. I had time to eat more, but I was worried about the stomach issue. Right after we went to my house and I changed, we dropped by KFC though :).
@parasol: My wedding day was almost identical to yours, as far as food!
I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, no lunch as I had no time with my hair/makeup appt., then had to get to the hotel. Right after our pictures after the ceremony my husband I got to have quite a few appetizers and drinks in a private room with just the wedding party. Then we were first for the dinner buffet and I ate about 2/3 of my plate (scarfed it down). I couldn't eat more than that, because my dress was SOOO freakin tight on my stomach. It hurt to sit down in my dress.
I only peed once before the reception, then made it 8 hours until peeing again and I drank about 5 drinks, plus water! I have no idea how this is possible! LOL
Then they sent up a few slices of our wedding cake and wedding dessert (Warm Apple Blossom) so we got to chow down on that in our room that night! :)
I'm sure I had breakfast... I just don't remember what, lol
At our reception I had a few bites of food between trying to talk to everyone and rush around for all the things we were doing. So it was mostly champagne after breakfast.
But at the after party - which was just a bunch of us meeting in the hotel restaurant/bar - I think I ordered every appetizer on the menu!
