I recently asked an aquaintance of mine if she would be willing to play an instrument at the wedding ceremony. It’s just a quick ceremony- nothing elaborate and no more than 20 minutes. I will only need her for maybe 30-45 minutes for the beginnning and end. I have no idea what to pay her. Did anyone have this at their ceremony, and what did you pay?

You should ask what she charges. Most musicians have wedding rates.

A friend of mine is going to be playing the violin for free at my ceremony. It’ll give him some experience and help him with his career. It’s only going to be the prelude, the wedding party entrance, and the bridal entrance. But I don’t know if mucisians usually charge per song. Everything else will be from a computer.

We paid $395 for two musicicans, a violinist and a guitarist.
There were added fees because we had them play two modern songs not included on their extensive list of classical to choose from. This meant they had to learn these two songs and purchase music sheets for them.
We chose around 15 classic songs + our 2 modern songs for them to play for an hour.
We got married in San Francisco, which naturally has higher rates than other parts of the country, so take that into consideration.

We paid $350 for two musicians, a violinist and a cellist. We had them for about an hour. We live in Dallas, Texas.
They played contemporary songs as guests where seated (30 minutes) as well as throughout the ceremony (which was classical). They had an extensive lsit of classical and contemporary songs.

We paid $300 for a trio — pianist, cellist, and a flutist (who can also play clarinet, oboe, sax, and trumpet) for them to play during the ceremony and also cocktail hour. They were absolutely AMAZING.
