The last time I purchased extensions was when I was a teenager, but I went to a local salon and they did them (and provided some extra pieces to really get my hair full) for $300. However, that was making them custom for me — they weren’t glue in or anything. They were clip-ons. I kind of liked it because I could use them whenever I wanted to.

On the other hand, I’ve also gotten extensions and cut them and sewed on the clips myself which cost me about $50 with the clips and you get plenty to make a bunch of pieces. However, depends on your hair and if it’s easily matched. I don’t think synthetic would curl well. The human hair ones are much more expensive, so it really depends on if you want clip-on, or glue-in, or what. Hope that helps kinda.

@ivoryowl:  Beware…the fused in kind ruin your natural hair! I learned the hard way. get the clip ins:)

ETA: I emailed this hairstyle to my stylist for my wedding ..Great taste!!!

@ivoryowl:  Don’t be nervous. Just make sure you space them well apart. I recommend the larger clips (as big as you can manage without them glaringly obvious out of your hair when they’re in and making crazy bumps) because they clip closed. If you use the smaller ones, sometimes it’s not enough to grab hair and stay there all day. Sometimes I’d have smaller ones that would pop back open randomly while I was wearing it because it didn’t want to stay shut any longer. Just make sure they’re securely attached and even. Pull up some pics of extensions and try to mimic what you see. Do they at least cut them into lengths already for you? The ones I got I had to measure against the ones from the salon, but at least I had a good idea to work from.

I’m on the right…I only use clips as needed for various jobs. This cost 130

I have clip ins from Sallys. They already have the clips in them and are 14″ I LOVE them! I am getting ready to color my hair back to blonde so I can wear them again! They are very soft and very easy to put in and style, and really add length and volume! They are an investment, as I dont think $100 is cheap, but I think they are totally worth it! I wore them almost everyday.

@MrsMaskatoBe:  that’s what I plan on having for the wedding! How was the upkeep? Did then slip a lot? My hair is about two inches past should length now so I’ll get the extensions for below the boob line.

I just want to be sure they don’t rip out my hair or slip down easily!

@Chrissy26:  I have had them “installed” for 4 1/2 weeks now and I have only lost ONE strand. Out of like 100. It’s not even noticable.

You have to make sure to only condition the ends of your hair to prevent slippage, but it has been relatively easy to keep up! I have been really pleased!

Foxy Locks are relatively cheaper (like 90 + shipping) than the Sally’s Euronet brand (130 ish) I’ve used both… they’re both wonderful. I wouldn’t get any permanent ones (beaded in, tracks etc) for your wedding. If you MUST do ones other than clip ins I’d get tape in extensions. The microbead ones get gunk build up around them and it’s easy to rip them out if you accidently brush them…

    Good luck!

Mine were free. My stylist lent me her own for my wedding day. I was extremely fortunate because I could have otherwise not afforded it.
