I've gotten a few quotes for hair/mua and was shocked ($250-300).  But I've heard from others this actually isn't that crazy.

How much did/will you ladies pay?

The place I plan to go charges $65 for MUA and $70 for hair. It's probably a little cheaper than some because it's outside of the city!

I am paying $350 for my Hair and Airbrush Makeup. Plus they are driving to my home to do it. :-) I thought mine was crazy....but it ended up being right in the middle of other quotes I got for the same services!!

140 for mine, and i think 40-45 for my mom's make up. I tipped big on top of that total since she came to our location with 2 helpers, and the girls paid for the services they each wanted (if any).  This was in Jamaica though.

This lady in my city wants five HUNDRED dollars.  For just the bride.  With no trial.  I am blown away. Thanks for asking this question because it looks like other people can easily find these services for less.

hey guys...I am actually having a family friend do mine, who went to cosmetology school... so it's more of an offeratory.

but seriously check out any beauty schools near you, students are usually just as good as the professionals, and charge way less! I know a lot of brides here in MN who have had girls from the Aveda Beauty Institute do their hair and makeup for so much less. Of course do a trial, and if you don't like them, you can always say no, you know!?

i've also found a few girls on craigslist.

    Good luck!!

I'm paying $150 for hair -- that includes a trial beforehand too.  I'm DIY-ing my makeup.

Of course on top of that, my hairdresser is also charging $100 per bridesmaid, and I was hoping to cover hair for all 4 of my bridesmaids... so now I'm up to $550!  Eek!  I'm trying to negotiate the price down a bit...

i was actually very surprised at how much it would cost to get hair and makeup done. after almost going into cardiac arrest after talking to someone at the local, trendy place in my city, i actually was able to hook up with a - wait for it - mary kay consultant!

i think it's going to be a great solution - she said she charges $20 for makeup, $0 if you buy product and i like that all the money goes pretty much directly to her (instead of a salon who then pays their employee). and she'll also come to my house! she's totally sweet and young and promised not to use blue eyeshadow anywhere in my wedding :)

i was so thrilled - now i can have all my girls' makeup done without going to the poorhouse (any more than i already am!). definitely something to look into if you are budget-constrained!

Be careful with a MK girl.  They're independent sales consultants and not a fully trained MUA.  Most of my brides are not happy with using a MK lady.  Make sure you do trials!
