I am just about done with ordering my invite paper and am proud of myself for (I think) saving a lot of money. My invites will come out to probably around $1.25 an invitation including Linen top, Metallic middle accent, Cardstock back, metallic envelope, map and RSVP postcard.
I’m so proud of myself! Just wanted to know what the “average” cost of invites is … Not including postage. I know the Bees are pretty resourceful so I’m guessing there are some who got theirs for even cheaper!!!

I’m designing my invitations myself and having them printed inexpensively, so they will be just over a dollar each including postage.

@DeathByDesign: Whaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! Amazing. You’re unbelievable!

I designed, printed, and assembled all my invites myself. Everything, including envelopes, came in under $1 per invite!

@stranger1: You are an inspiration! And here I thought I was getting my invitations dirt cheap. Wow. Great job.

I’m Pseudo DIYing and bought everything on sale. My invites cost about $0.50 each. However, because I bought WAY too many supplies, it’s really like I spent $1 each. So, I guess you have to account for all the extras I bought.

Where are you guys printing your invites? And how come mine aren’t going to be that cheap? I am using metallic pocketfolds though, and metallic envelopes and metallic paper for inserts. Those cost a pretty penny. But where are you printing and how much is it per page so I know what to expect. Thanks.

Envelopemall.com – CHEAP metallic envelopes, stardream and others. Customer service is…okay.
paperandmore.com – CHEAP shipping!
cardsandpockets.com – It’s okay, but they had a color I wanted. Very responsive customer service but high shipping.
lcipaper.com – a lot of specialty paper and even pens!
Papermillstore.com – BULK paper!
Since I live in Hawaii, shipping was on average $30-50, believe it or not! Paperandmore caps shipping at 3.50 for the contiguous US. If you are ordering in bulk, you can save a ton. Good luck!

Sorry I didn’t read your question. I haven’t decided where I’m shipping but the copy shops have quoted me 60 cents per page 🙁

We were quoted $8.50 per invitation suite for the design that we absolutely love (Etsy). I’m not sure if we’ll end up going with her since thats pretty pricey but so far it’s been the only design we even somewhat liked.

I was lucky enough to have a great friend/bridesmaid who made our invitations for us, including writing them by hand. Which was a huge task because we had about 180 invites (375-ish guests invited). We went to Paper Source and got matting paper and top paper, rsvp paper, and envelopes for the invite and rsvp. I think they ended up under $1 each plus postage. But it did take her a couple of months worth of her 1 and 2 year old’s nap times to get them done. They were amazing though–people didn’t believe that they were handwritten. We dressed them up with a scroll-like stamp bracketing the tops and bottoms and used the same on the envelopes.

I printed mine myself, but the paper was the problem. Each invite was technically only $1.60-ish, but I had to buy a lot more paper than I used. So the total cost per invite was $2.60-ish, although I should recoup some of that if I use the paper for other projects.

@foofie:wow, I can’t believe all of your invites were handwritten, that’s incredible!
