I am in NYC so also more than average BUT we negotiated our florist down by almost 30%! We just told her we really liked her work and we loved her style, but they were well out of our price range. We went line by line, and ended up with a number in between our budget and her original estimate. So we still spent more than we planned, but we feel like we reached a fair agreement.
The cost will depend a lot on where you live since labor is a big component to the cost.
My wedding is in the Bay Area (Nor Cal) and we ended up spending a total of 1200.
- bridal bouquet
- 1 toss bouquet
- 4 BM bouquets
- 10 bouts
- 6 corsages

4 buffet table arrangements
A BUNCH of other small misc arrangments. We even ended up with flowers left over that we took to the site in a bucket. My girls just put them out where they looked best and it was beautiful!

this price is all inclusive of rental vases/delivery and setup. she's been in the business for over 25 years and her work is fantastic! PM if anyone is interested in her info!

3500 on:
I solicited two quotes for flowers. Most of the prices for items were similar and even when a few things varied, it seems to have evened out. This is for the SF Bay Area.
Prices are for each.
1 Bride bouquet, $180 - $250
1 toss, free to $50
2 bridesmaids $85 - $90
5 bouts, $10 - $15
4 corsages, $15 - $25
1 cake topper $30 ($20 per extra tier) - $60
flower petals, $10 to $30
6 chair wreaths or flower+bow arrangements for aisle, $20 - $30
2 ceremony alter arrangements, $150 - $200
Grand totals including delivery and tax were as low as $1350 and as high as $1600. They both seem pretty reasonable and creative. It's hard to know how to choose the right florist.
First of all, if you live in L.A., you might want to go downtown to the FlowerMart and scope out all of the vendors and see how much they will charge you for what you want. Just take some pix with you. Pedroza's Flowers: 600 E. 8th St. was pretty good. The number is (213) 622-0279.
I paid $300 for flowers, that included:
7 bouquets (w/ flowers bought from flowermart, made by one of my friends)
20 boutiennieres (from Pedroza's Flowers):
2 large altar arrangements (also w/ flowers from flowermart)
15 centerpieces (floating hydgrangeas)
misc. flowers for decoration
Bay Area
I just got a quote from a DC-suburbs florist recommended by my DOC and I'm in SHOCK after reading your quotes! Total $5000 for far less than what the rest of you are getting (minus the NYC brides).
Here are just a few of the prices from the quote:
Bridal bouquet - $160
4 BM's - $90 each (for only hydrangeas and spray roses!)
2 ceremony arrangements - $250 each
16 guest table centerpieces - $145 each (for short arrangements in vases)
Wow, AKPM2008, $145 per centerpiece is steep! You should be able to negotiate the price down by talking about what flowers they are planning on using and opting for less expensive ones. I'm paying $40 per centerpiece. I'd also suggest getting a quote from another local florist and then (if you prefer this first place) go back to them and tell them how much you were quoted at the other place (if it's less). We told our florist straight up that we were "on a budget" and they worked with us.
I'm also kind of shocked at the price of the centerpieces. My bouquet is a little less than yours ($125, and $80 for the MOH bouquet) but our centerpieces, short arrangements in vases that are really more like a tall cup or bowl, are $35 each. I second that you should talk to them about the choice of flowers.
I paid $155 for 170 stems at flowerexchange.com... and I'm arranging them myself. :) Yellow roses and gerbera daisies.
I'm in the LA area, and I got a quote from a florist for $75-100 for my bouquet and $50-75 for the BM bouquets, depending on what flowers we chose.
We just went to our first floral meeting and will receive our quote in a week or so, but she ballparked us under $1000 for:
1 bridal bouquet (lilies, spiral willow, those curly branch things, & some other flower I am blanking on); hand wrapped
1 toss bouquet
6 MOH/BM bouquets (ranoculous, mum, a different flower I can't think of); hand wrapped
10 bouts
7 coursages
Wow, I am jealous of most of you guys. My flowers are so much more expensive! And they are cheaper than most of the other places in my area. My Mom wants a lot of floral arrangements (she's paying for the flowers), so that's where the cost comes in. I don't have the breakdown, but we're paying just under $4,000 for bridal bouquet & 5 bridesmaids bouquets, 3 corsages, 9 boutineers, 10 kissing balls for the aisle, 2 large floral arrangements at the front, and 22 centerpieces (in a 2:1 ratio of big/tall ones to short ones in smaller vases). Oh, plus tax and delivery/setup charge. I guess the flowers are only $3,500.
Wouldn't it be nice if my venue had larger tables and we could have fewer centerpieces? We're not having a huge wedding that warrants so many centerpieces, but at only 8 people per table, that's what we get.
Our total is WAY more than we originally wanted to spend, but we are getting a lot more than originally planned as well :).
Ours includes:
My bridal bouquet:$185
Bridesmaids: 45 each
Flower girl: 35 for bouquet and 35 for her "crown"
Bout's for the guys: About 10, all 7 or 9 dollars depending.
Small bouquets for the mothers (versus corsages) 35 each
2 grandmother corsages: 18 each
the toss bouquet is free!
And two blue hydrangea wreaths for 125 each to decorate the church.
The total was somewhere around 1300 with delivery.
We are also hiring a lady at the local farmers market who has an AMAZING flower "patch" for the two large bouquets for the altar. That will probably be approx. 60 bucks total. She did the flowers for my bridal shower and they were absolutely GORGEOUS!

Rendez-Vous Florist near the Beverly Ctr. was our florist and they were amazing. They were way more reasonable priced, but had the phenomenal quality of the big fancy florists like L.A. Premier.
Your arrangements will be full of good flowers and not filler flowers. They are creative on their own, but bring pictures if you have ideas.
8100 West 3rd Street , Los Angeles ,CA 90048 (Corner of 3rd Street and Crescent Heights ). (323)653-4166 and ask for Lily or Tiger.
I went to the LA Flower District for my flowers. For pics click here.
I spent $695 for:
This includes delivery and set-up fees. If I pay cash, tax (8.25%) will NOT be added to the $695.
One more thing -- I didn't go with the cheapest vendor; I went with the one that did the best creation of what I visioned. Here is the info:
The name of the company is Casa Blanca Flower Shop, phone: 213-955-9227, 536 East 8th Street, Los Angeles, 90014. It helps if you speak spanish, or bring someone who does. They made a mock-up of what I wanted and then we negotiated.

I just received quotes from several florists and they are all over my initial budget. I was just wondering how you fellow weddingbee readers spent on your flowers or are going to spend.
Note: My wedding is in Los Angeles.
