That dress is gorgeous.  I didn’t spend a lot on mine either and sometimes I worry it’s not nice enough..but then I look at myself in pictures and remember why I love it.

@waitingwonderland:  Seriously, that dress is stunning! I had it as dress inspiration before I found mine! I never tried on the Ramona Keveza, but I will be stalking your boards for pictures! 🙂

    This was mine:

@waitingwonderland:  Thanks! I’m dying to get the pro shots!

Do you have any pictures of you in the dress? I would love to see!

Yes, I’ve noticed too that a lot of formal weddings have the bride wearing satin or taffeta but I think that has to do with the fabric being the more traditional choice. It’s also more common to bling out. I don’t think you need a big expensive gown in order to fit a very formal wedding. Choices like cathedral veil, diamonds instead of pearls, classic tuxedos, bridesmaid dresses, decor, and etc all play a part.

We are having a black-tie preferred wedding but I gave myself a 3K budget. I’ve always been a more flowly, romantic type of bride when it comes to dresses so I ended up with a tulle and lace ballgown. I think if you add dramatic earrings and a bracelet, your dress will no way look any less formal than those you’ve seen on TV. Beautiful dress, btw! I love Romona Keveza lace dresses 🙂

I voted $1501-$3000, but I was at the VERY bottom of it.  If I didn’t include alterations and taxes, it would have been in the $501-1500 range.

I do kind of regret spending that much.  I wish I would have trusted eBay enough to buy mine used, or I wish I had known more about ordering from China.  One lady on here posted a Chinese knock-off of my dress that was absolutely stunning and looked just like the real thing.

I do still LOVE LOVE LOVE my dress, though, and I thought she fit the formality of our wedding perfectly.

@brandybelle:  I think it’s a very modern, red carpet Hollywood-style black tie dress!  I like it!

I think there are several different styles of black tie event out there, and thus even though your dress is VERY different than mine, I think they both fit the bill.  I think what dresses yours up is the satin material.  The same dress in a chiffon or similar fabric wouldn’t be so formal, I think.
