My mom is kind of obsessed with candy buffets, and she said if we decide to have one she’ll help to “sponsor” it. I’m trying to get an idea of how much it would cost. To those Bees who had candy buffets, how much would you estimate you paid overall? What kind of candy did you have, and how much of it did you purchase? How many guests did you have?

I’m wondering the same thing. We’ve spent about 70 bucks on vases already – and we got them from Marshall’s. Ross has inexpensive ones too. Candy is the kicker – I was looking at prices online and we’ll probably end up spending about 140 on candy. Which, to me, is INSANE. haha

It cost of $300-$400 in candy and I bought all of my containers, scoops and bags, so that was another $200 or so. you could obviously do way cheaper containers. I had 100 people and bought a pound per person. That was a little too much. You could probably get away with 1/2 per person. If you are not going to put it out until the end, you could do less. We had people eating as soon as it opened, as well as taking it home.

@LadyCheri: I saw some jars/vases that could work well at TJMaxx too…I might even check out Goodwill, I was there today to drop off donations and they had a TON of large glassware for a couple bucks apiece. I’m looking for any way to save money, because the project is turning out much more expensive than I thought!
@mwitter80: Your candy buffet looks amazing! If you don’t mind sharing, what candies did you have and where did you purchase them? I’ve heard 1/4 lb to 1/2 lb per person…based on yours, do you think 1/4 lb per person would be too little?
