Hi ladies, just curious on this. I've seen garters in all sorts of price ranges. I'm currently thinking of having a set with some bling. So did the cheaper garters stay up during the day, did the material irritate your skin. Also did any crystals or bling get caught on your dress or petticoat. I dont mind spending a low amount of money just not sure if the more costly garters are worth the money. Thanks.

I'm not really sure what a typical garter costs. The ones I am looking at are around $85.

Holy bajesus, WHY are they so much money?  I'm not doing anything garter related so I never looked at any.  Are they typically this expensive?

Wow those are expensive! I bought mine for about $6 at a wholesale suppliers. It was white and had hot pink ribbon that matched perfectly to my shoes. It wasn't the most comfortable thing (kinda scratchy material), but hey, it was $6 :) It didn't fall down at all either so I was happy.

    @bridetobe7844:

I was looking at garters from the same seller. I just think her work is special, I don't mind paying more for something extraordinary.

I was shocked at the prices, I went on etsy and browsed through not even looking at the prices and it wasn't until I saw the one posted above and opened it up that my draw dropped at the price!!!! I also saw this one for only $15.00

I'm just wondering why theres such a big price difference between garters.

I spent 35 bucks on my garter (and toss) from etsy. And they are fabulous!

But I think the seller has upped her prices since I bought from her....

But she still has amazing stuff!

The etsy ones are very nice! my friend had one at her wedding made by florriemitton and it was beautiful. it was a very non-traditional garter and i believe it was rather expensive, but people actually took notice of it and commented how pretty and refreshing it was to see something so gorgeous and not at all tacky

I bought my set (ivory garter and toss garter) for $6 at michaels. They were perfectly fine and cute, and I didnt care that much about them anyway. I spent a lot more on *other* special undergarments though!

Also I wanted to say its perfectly easy to make your own garter, any JoAnns fabrics would have the supplies to make any one of those etsy garters, so if they are out of your budget think about making your own if you like to DIY.

Michael's has them cheap, under $5.00.  Or like the previous post said make one yourself.  I think it's ridiculous to pay that much for some elastic and ribbon, but if it's in your budget then I guess go for it.  I'm going to attempt to DIY.  I'm going to buy the one from Michael's and then just get some cute ribbon and a little charm to add to it.

I bought my garter set for $25.00. It's a beautiful set. It came with one for me to keep & one to toss. The material is comfortable when I first tried it on but my wedding is not till this December so I guess I'll have to wait. :) Here are some gorgeous garters on etsy.com that I would have purchase but I can't have them all. :( lol

My mom is making my keepsake one from her wedding dress, so that's free.  I bought my toss one at Michaels with a coupon for like $2, and removed the blue ribbons/bows and added purple and a rhinestone for bling.  Cost me about $4 :)

You can buy the garter material on by the yard as well from most craft stores for pretty cheap.  Like $2.50 or so, then sew it together to fit your leg and decorate...FYI

I saw an amazing one (very vintage with crystals) for $75. I can't imagine spending that much money on something I am throwing away! *Sigh*

$85???  Holy Moly!!!  I wasn't even going to have a garter since we're not doing the garter toss, but my father found my mom's garter in a box when he moved last weekend, and gave it to me.  Since we don't have her dress or veil, it'll be a nice touch having a little bit of her wedding day ensemble with me.  So mine was free, and for the sentimental value, priceless!

I got my set from JLWeddings on Etsy, and I love it! The set was only $36.50 including shipping, which I thought was a really reasonable price for a garter with satin, lace, and some beading. Here's a pic, sorry if it's huge! This is my first time uploading a photo :] How much did you spend on your garter : wedding garter Garter

I always thought the garter was more for my hubby than for me. So with that thinking and since he is a die-hard Redwings fan.

I got him this from etsy shop: Narfers99's Bridal Gear. Price was $22.00 for both and shipping was $5. It is so much cuter in person too ;)

Mine was somewhere around $25.  I bought a Florida State set from someone on Etsy - so it came with 2.

Wow.. I didn't know garters can cost that much.  I bought one from Michael's really cheap with a coupon.  However, I didn't wear it on my wedding day. =P
