Bought a groupon for a Kenyan Safari!  We’re going in August and are super excited. It’s a 10 day trip (including travel time) and the groupon included airfare. We did add on one extra night/activity.

We are extremely lucky to have a small mountain of airline miles, hotel points and Amex points because we’re taking an amazing honeymoon on very little money compared to the actual costs. We are going to Tokyo for 5 nights then Hong Kong for 4, all flights are business or first class, and all hotels are luxury (we even have suites booked).

Total cost: 240,000 airline miles, 120,000 Hilton points, 1 Intercontinental Hotels “Buy One Get One” certificate, $400 in Marriott gift certificates (I get them at work as bonuses), 3 nights of hotels we’re paying for @ about $600/night (Hong Kong is stupidly expensive) and $140 for the taxes on the airline tickets. This would be about a $30,000-40,000 trip otherwise!

We took a 7 night cruise to Bermuda. All together it was approximately $5k including our transportation to the cruise port, our cabin (we splurged on a suite), the on board account (which pretty much just consisted of booze), spending money while in Bermuda (we were there for 3 days) and passport fees.

I think we’re spending between 6 and 7k for our 9 day honeymoon to St. Lucia. We are spending money on airfare to get there, money on our lodging and food, and money on excursions and spa services. We are splitting our time between Sandals and Ladera. I can’t wait!

We are going to Greece – Athens, Santorini and Mykonos – for 9 days.  Our flights, hotels and all travel between the islands cost a little over $6k.  Food, drinks and spending money will be additional.

We took a 24 night trip to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The flights and 14 nights of 5* hotels cost £4098 (a little over $6500). We then added on three more nights in 5* hotels at a cost of £370 (just under $600), five nights in an unrated luxury resort £500 (around $800) and then added on some internal flights at around £250 (around $400). We probably spent another £2500 on top of that (around $4000).

So we probably spent around $12,500 but by goodness it was worth it!

Oops! I forgot the two nights we spent at Loch Lomond before flying out but I included it in the spending money.

I know you want to hear from people who have already done it, but here goes 🙂

7 nights in San Juan and Boqueron, Puerto Rico – $800 in airfare, $480 for timeshare, $200 for hotel, $140 for car rental, and we’re planning on $50-100/day for food and another $50-$100/day for fun.

The amount is really going to vary depending on what you want to do! We are low maintenance and excited to sit on a beach and eat seafood, with a couple of adventures in between. Some people are going 4-star all the way with upscale restaurants every night…just start poking around on travel sites or working with a travel agent to see what you can do for however much you want to spend, or vice versa.

My fiancé’s mother is from Fiji and I’ve always wanted to go so that will be the location for our honeymoon. We are looking to spend about 10 days there. Airfare roundtrip is about 4k. We will be staying in a few nights in the over water bungalow (1,500 a night) and a few nights in a garden suite (1,100 a night) and the remaining 3 days will be spent with family. So we’re estimating 10k-12k. You only live once and once the babies come along it is very hard to take a luxurious get away!

Ours is 5200. We are going to Sandals Grande Riviera in Jamaica for 8 days and 8 nights. We got a butler suite with ocean view, so I think we got a decent deal 🙂 We will be going on a couple excursions too, so that will be another few hundred. I am super excited!

Oh wow! Now that I see some of these amounts I feel pretty good. I tend to be good about shopping around and finding good deals. Our honeymoon was 7 days. We went on a 5 day Caribbean cruise. Then stayed in Florida for two days afterwards. It was the most amazing trip. We only spent about $2k. We didn’t shop too much as money was tight after the wedding. Cruises are awesome now that I’ve been on one. The food is all inclusive which saves so much money. Our total includes flight, bag fees, food for the two days after the cruise, and what we did spend on souvenirs. Although we didnt have to pay for our room for the two days thanks to Darling Husband uncle.
