I am having a hard time finding someone to do my hair for the wedding. Mostly because I feel like the prices I’m seeing are crazy expensive. I’m guessing the prices I’m seeing are the norm but I just would llike to hear from others. Then I might be able to just get over it and pick someone! So, how much did you/are you paying for you hair to be done?

$40-something. $45, I think? $42?
I never understand the “I don’t have anyone to do my hair” posts…does the person who regularly cuts/styles your hair not do updos?

It was $60 to get my hair done, plus $40 for each of the bridesmaids that wanted to get it done. She came to our hotel, so we also paid for her gas to drive to us, which was 45 minutes to an hour away from her salon/where we live.

@vorpalette: A lot of people don’t have a regualr stylist. I get my hair trimmed once a year by a retired lady down the road, so I wouldn’t ask her to do an updo.
But my mom knows someone who does hair and she’s doing mine for $40, down for the ceremony then doing an updo for the reception. I would say $40-50 is fairly common

Around here I was quoted 125 at most places. I found a place that will prob be 100.

yeah im one of the people who is paying a crazy amount for hair and makeup….

@vorpalette: Wow. I haven’t found anything under $150. I don’t care much about my hair on a day-to-day basis so I don’t have anyone who does it regularly. I go to Hair Cuttery every 6 months (if that often) and get it re-layered. I don’t care who does it, whoever is avaialbe first is fine with me. I’m not sure I’d trust someone from Hair Cuttery to do my hair for my wedding anyway…

@MrsN14: That blows my mind–my hair gets trimmed every 7 weeks by the same person. I’m terrified to let someone new touch my hair.

@MistySoda: My stylist is doing it for free for a wedding present and I am very grateful. But for my maids it is up to $65 depending on if it is an elaborate updo or just some nice curls. I still thought it was very reasonably priced considering how expensive everything else for this wedding has been.

$145 total for trial and day of. We are getting married on an island and my hair doesn’t do well with humidity so I decided to throw caution to the wind and let a professional handle it. I am doing my own makeup so I make up for the cost that way.

I paid $175 for my hair. Yes, it was expensive but it was perfect.

Ok, well, I’m not feeling better. I can’t evern find some who will do a trail for under $100. How is everyone finding people to do it for so cheap? If I could find someone who would do it for 40-60 I’d be all over that!

Sounds like it varies by region.
I’m in the NYC area. I think it’s mostly around $150 for hair, and $125 for makup or vice versa…i can’t keep track…
For my wedding:
Flower girls are $50 for hair, $25 makeup
Bridesmaids are $80 for hair, $90 for makeup

Ugh – in my smallish town its $80 per BM and $120 for me!!! Its very difficult to get any cheaper – this is on the cheaper end.
Since when did hairdressers around here start charging more per hour than a doctor?!?

@vorpalette: I think if people can use their stylist, they do. The posts on here are probably the 10% left over that doesn’t know anyone or can’t find anyone. My regular stylists charges $40 for haircut and style in the salon, then she charges $200 for on-location dos (and the salon is completely out of the way for all the girls and not near the venue). So I am one of those people without a stylist because my friend-of-a-friend bailed on me a couple weeks ago (2 months before the wedding).
