@spicyshimmer:  Ugh! That is so frustrating! I had the same kind of experience in Kansas. So, I nixed the flowers entirely.

I think it really depends what your expectations are.  Do you have a large bridal party? Do you love peonies?  Do you have tons of reception tables?

I got married in New Orleans, spent around $2,500 and had 11 people in my bridal party (bridesmaids and groomsmen).  My flowers weren’t fancy, but I didn’t give much guidance to my florist, just colors and general look.

I spent over 500 dollars just on 5 bouquets, mine and 4 bridesmaids. The groom and groomsmen are just wearing pocket squares.

We were quoted for flowers for everyone including the groomsmen, moms and dads, and it was about 1000.

I think it depends on your florist and how much you want.

We paid somewhere around $2600-$2800 and that got my bouquet, 5 BM boquets, 2 boutonnieres, a throw bouquet, a corsage, the decorations for my arch, 8 shepherd’s hooks with flower arrangements, decorated sweetheart table and cake table (re-used flowers from the shepherd’s hooks, whoo!), and centerpieces for approximately 12 tables.

The first florist we looked into wanted to charge us a little more than that for quite a bit less. Shop around! 🙂

My wedding was in NJ and I spent $7,000. This also included a backdrop for our table. My first quote was for $12,000. Flowers are ridiculously expensive. Honestly, it looked amazing at our wedding and it really made everything look absolutely amazing. It all depends on where you go. I haggled like crazy and still couldn’t get it lower than $7,000. My sister spent closer to $8,000.

Wow, how rude of her. Keep shopping around – they are not all like that! There are plenty of florists who will work with your budget and still give you a great product.

We are spending $700 on my bouquet, 3 BM bouquets, 6 boutonnieres, and two corsages. I told my florist my budget, and I sent her my pinterest board. After perusing it, she gave me a great quote.

She’s been lovely to work with, so trust me, there’s someone out there for you. Forget this witch you spoke to!

ETA: We are DIYing the centerpieces. My SIL is doing all the arranging, and we are buying the materials. It should only be a few more hundred dollars. Nothing outrageous.

@spicyshimmer:  Probably a good idea to tell you what we got! Bride Bouquet, 8 bridesmaids bouquets, 3 womans crosages, 8 boutinieres, 12 flower balls for the church pews, two large arrangements in front of the church, 24 Large, medium and small arrangements, backdrop curtain with crystals for bride and groom, reused the two large church arrangements in front of our table, smaller arrangements on our table, candles in front of our table, rose petals on and in front of our table, candles in front of the entrace doors, and a wishing tree with crystals. Jeez typing that up makes me think I went just a bit overboard…… To think she forgot the flower girls petals! My brother is a fast thinker and grabbed petals from the girls bouquets!

$1100 overall for 9 attendants, bride, groom, and 6 parents, 4 grandparents, MC-brother, Sister. $150 for centerpieces – I bought 16 dozen roses from Costco.

We did roses for everyone except me – I had a mixed bouquet and I gave her some ideas and she came up with a lovely red and white creation.

@spicyshimmer:  Nope, we had a flower-free wedding. I used alternatives like potpourri, light jars, etc.

we spent thousands, but flowers add up really quickly and i had a dream about flower trees in a ballroom and once you have an image in your head, it’s hard to let go of it… Laughing

that florist sounds real rude though, it doesn’t matter your budget, her job is to show you what she can do with your budget. there are plenty of other florists that would be happy to have your business.

We will be spending a little under 900 for 3 bouquets (mine and 2 BMs), 9 bouts, and 4 large arrangements for the church.

ETA: I would keep shopping for a florist just for the fact that that lady was rude and doesn’t deserve your business.
