So i have some incredibly amazing and wonderful friends who are donating their various talents to me for the wedding (graphic design friend, cake designer friend, photographer friend, harpist friend, band friend etc. etc.)
I obviously want to somehow repay the favour to the rest of them, but in particular I am sort of unsure about what an actual cake would cost? I think she said she was making one to feed roughly 90 people and it is going to be the fondent style, 2 flavour, 3 tier, with sugar blooms on it.
Anybody have an idea of price range?

Prices vary by region, but I used to make wedding cakes and I would have charged about $450 for that.

You will have to call around to get price quotes in your area. Being that this board is international, there are wide range of prices and no two couples will be paying the same price, even for the exact same cake, as there are so many variables involved. Price is largely dependent on where you are located since a large city such as NY or LA will automatically be more expensive than Smalltown Iowa. The fact that you are in Canada vs the US where the majority of posters are located is another roadblock in estimating since there is the exchange rate that has to be calculated in on top of that for any quote that may be posted.
Keep in mind that fondant and handmade sugar flowers will raise the price as both are very labor intensive.
There is no way whatsoever to even make a guess as to what you will be paying or what is the going rate where you are. But if a friend is making it for you, it is considered a gift and many people will not accept repayment unless they are an established business who provides that service everyday.
