I voted 1000-2000 — commenting because my dress is by Stella York, which is a sister brand to Essense of Australia.  I’m wondering if EofA and its sister brands are the same price in Australia as in America?  I saw alot of dresses from those brands when I went dress shopping, and they have many affordable options (at least in America).

I feel like I got a great deal.

I did buy off the rack which really helps keep the cost down especially if you want a high end designer!

    Orientalla:

I am from Toronto which is in Canada.

I only spent $700 CAD on my wedding dress, which is considered very cheap in Toronto.

It was the Mori Lee 4501. I chose it because it was very simple, which fit my tiny elopement wedding. I also loved the way it accentuated my curves. It is the picture on top.

My vow renewal dress will be a poufy off the rack creation for $330CAD. It is not my style but my mother and my aunts have always wanted to see me in a traditional princessy kind of gown. I am wearing the damn poufy dress for them. The second picture is my vow renewal dress. Don’t you dare laugh at me!

I’m in Australia also and managed to find an Allure Couture sample dress on sale from $3,500 to $1,400. It’s this one, C227, but in ivory/gold.

I have noticed on the bee that wedding dresses are a lot cheaper in the US in comparison to what you pay in Australia. I paid $2200 for my nicolina dress which is an average price for a dress where I live. It also has flowers made out of material on right hip where ruffles begin layering down but cannot be seen in photo

Got mine at DB for $99!  The alterations were another $225, so I felt pretty good about it.  I really liked the dress & had no idea it was on clearance when I tried it on.

I’m in Australia and I paid $2100 for my dress. It was originally $2350. It seems from this site that they are a fair bit cheaper in America. Not fair! Lol

I’m from Australia and bought my dress online from America. Bridal shops here are crazy! I got my sample VW for the same price as a Maggie Sottero in a local shop here.

In fact, prices here are so ridiculous, I ended up buying nearly everything from overseas (literally the only thing I’ve bought in Australia is the cotton to sew my BM dresses). Even with postage, I still saved money!

Orientalla: You are right to be concerned, just like diamond rings, wedding dresses cost substantially more in Australia. I paid £300 + shipping, so around $500 Aud, for a secondhand Ritva Westenius from the UK Oxfam online bridal store. Opshop the crap out of your area, look for secondhand ads for dresses in your city…then go further afield if necessary. Modcloth.com has some supercute less formal white/wedding dresses. Good luck!

I’m living in Australia as well, prices are insane over here, and there’s not much choice with cheaper dresses 🙁 then again, “cheap and expensive ” are all relative I guess :p

i spent under $300 for a dress I bought on Etsy. Which was perfect for me because I wasnt looking for anything too complicated. And it fit perfectly 🙂

    good luck in your search!!

Welllllll mine is a Maggie originally priced at $1,500 but I got it for $500 because it was a  discontinued sample. My dream dress through. I would have found a way to pay $2,000 if need be. i just lucked out. My mom actually found the listing for the sample too!
