About $1500 for ours. We got a graphistudio album with photometallic paper, which is soo soo pretty. Colours really pop.
I think (!) the albums our photographer offers start at $1500 but we wanted some upgrades and it might end up being like $2500 (eek!). I kind of regret it now that I've made a couple of Blurb Albums that turned out great.
One of the things I would do over is not include the albums in our original photography contract and decide whether we wanted one after the wedding. Now, we are contractually obligated to get one.
Ours will be around $3500, but I don't like to think of it that way because including the album, we paid about $5000 for the photographer. This was for unlimited wedding day coverage with 2 photographers, an engagment session, and the full disk of digital negatives plus the album. He just seems to have it broken down where the album costs the most, for some reason.
Is the cost you ladies are listing ON TOP of the photographer's cost for the wedding day???
My entire package which was pictures from 10 AM until 11 PM, includes an album, a VERY LARGE picture for our wall, 8x10's for the parents, 5x7's for the wedding party, wallets, our engagement session, a large mounted picture for signing at the reception, and possession of the negatives cost us $1500 TOTAL
I realize prices in LA are going to be more than prices in my area, and my cost was quite low (a friend of mine got married 2 years ago, used a different photog. and paid $8000 for all of her stuff - which btw - was not that great) but I didn't think people had to pay extra to actually get an album...
Ours is included in our package (which is 6K)...so don't know exactly what the breakdown is.
We have a $1200 album credit from our package...I think that's essentially the starting price of a full sized album that is 30 pages from our photographer. I somewhat regret having the contractual obligation to buy the album, but I knew we wouldn't make one otherwise and hers will be a lot nicer than anything we could put together.
$900. :(
And... I think that's 2007 pricing. I think it's about $1600 now!
Our entire package is $1600, and that includes an album with 140ish pics, and a CD with all the hi-res images.
Maybe it's just because I don't live in a built up area?
We are paying roughly $3000 for a fantastic photographer, 6 hours of coverage, digital negatives with print rights, and a fabulous custom album. Not sure on the pages, but there are a lot, and all the paper and lay out is custom. I'm excited! Photography is my number one priority!
Hi Penguin,
I am from Sacramento too, I believe our whole package is around $4,500. That includes an engagement session, photo album and 6+ hours at the wedding! Our photographer offers a beautiful album which is made in Italy...before meeting with him I swore I didn't want an album but after seeing this one I fell in LOVE!
Hope that helps!
We paid $6000 for our photographer and $800 for the rights to the digital files. The album cost is on top of that, but they will credit the $800 rights fee towards the purchase of an album. The final cost of the album depends on what we want, but it will be at least $800 since that is the credit we'll be using.
Our photo package was $975 (and she's amazing -- www.amystraka.com) and I'm doing the albums myself with mpix.com pro-quality photo paper and Kolo albums.
I bought a brand new leather 40 page Renaissance library bound album with the mats, dust bag, and box for 100.00 off ebay (the seller was a photographer who was going out of business) and will choose the pictures I want to have my photographer print after I see the proofs...My photographer costs 3,600 and does not include the Hi Res DVD you get when you buy the rights (that is an additional 1,500)...However, since I am getting married on a Thursday, she thre this in for free. Mr. Staticboy and I are in love with both our videographer and photographer and would not trade them for anyone else, for any other price!
Ours was 900 for 20-page, but included hi-res DVD. We thankful that he honored the 2008 prices for our Jan09 wedding! :)
These are the prices if you buy individually.
Large Deluxe Matted or Flush Final Album:
24 pages with 24 (8x10) photographs $1,195 30 pages,
up to 42 photographs with a custom designed layout $1,595 50 pages, up to 70 photographs with a custom designed layout $2,195
Extra pages are $75 each for Large Matted Albums and Flush albums.
Medium Deluxe Matted Final Album:
24 pages with up to 24 (5x7) photographs $995
36 pages with up to 36 (5x7) photographs $1,195
50 pages with up to 50 (5x7) photographs $1,395
Extra pages for Medium Matted Albums are $50 each.
My $3,800 package includes a 30 page large delux album, which on its own would be $1,595. Whew. That was one of my big sticker shocks
Ours is included in the package we got, but I think if we bought it seperate it would have been anywhere from between 1-2K.
Our package wasn't broken down into "cost per area" thing, but my guess is that our album was $600-$800. But that's for a 40 page album made in Italy. It is beautiful!
OUr photography package included a "Storybook Album" credit. It works out to about a $1500 credit. I am in the process of trying to decide with Album manufacturer I want to use. These are the three I have to choose from:
Epoca
Memador
GraphiStudio
Is anyone familiar with any of these? Can you recommend?
Thank you!
Ours was included in our package. For about $1500 we got an engagement session, wedding day coverage, all edited photos (in color and b&w) on a DVD with copyrights and a 30 page flush mount album.
We couldn't fit all the pictures we wanted into one nice album, so we have a 2 volume photo album that came up to $2400.
Our 30-page coffee table book was included in the contract. (YAY!)
However, we ordered a coffee table book of our engagement photos. This served as our guestbook, as guests signed the blank pictures opposite the photos. It worked really well!! It was high quality, and the layouts were super easy to work with. We used www.smilebooks.com
After the coupon code (easily found by a google search) and shipping, it was still only $50.

If you're comforatable with sharing the number (or if you know how much yours would cost but don't plan to buy one) I'd love to hear how much you are paying for your pro album (or how muchy your photog charges). I believe mine charges around $1K (I will confirm this in the next few days) which is super hard to swallow...
