@dv3849:  I wont be the only one who will tell you this, but paying for something wedding related (hair) is not considered part of the present- as they would not be getting it done, if it were not for your wedding. A bridesmaid gift is completely free of wedding ties.

@dv3849:  I think it’s lovely that you’re paying for their hair. I don’t understand why people don’t like this. They’re expecting to have to pay for their hair and now they don’t, as a bridesmaid, how can you not be excited and thankful?

@dv3849:  I think that sounds great!  As a BM, I would appreciate the bride paying for my makeup and you are getting them other non-related wedding gifts, so I see nothing wrong with it.  I am a big VS and bath and body works fan too- especially sales!!

I just finished buying mine and I spent a little over $60 on each girl.  (I bought them matching necklaces and earrings.)  I have four girls in my party, so it was around $250 total.  My FI also thought that was pretty steep, but I wanted to get them something nice.  I would have also been paying for part of the cost of having their hair done, but my very sweet mother offered to pay for the girls’ hair. 🙂

I think I spent about $150-200 on each of them. I also paid for their makeup to be done by my MUA on the day of the wedding. I had 6 bridesmaids.

ETA: I also dont think that hair or makeup is a “gift.” Personally, I get my hair done every 2 weeks anyway and I do my own makeup (and others also) so it wouldnt be a gift to me. I didnt get them “pointless” jewelry or purses either. I got each girl a gift like I would for their birthdays. I got them gift cards to their favorite stores. I also got them robes (they picked them out) and makeup bags filled with their favorite beauty items.

@dv3849:  I spent about $50 on each of them.  I took them to the spa the day before the wedding for pedicures.

I feel like it depends on how involved they were.  If they hosted parties, ran errands and did alot to attribute to your wedding I think around ~100$ is fine.  However I plan to just have my two sisters when I get engaged and they will have minimal responsibilities so i would prolly just get then jewelry and cover the cost of the dress.  Maybe a small Starbucks gift card or something but I’m not going to give hundreds of dollars in gifts

@dv3849:  I’m a fan of all of that stuff! I also love the idea of paying for their hair. As a BM I always get my hair done because I’m hopeless at doing my own hair. If I found out you were paying for it I would be very happy 🙂

I spent about $100 on my BM’s presents.

Probably $25-50… but.. I’m paying for the dresses, shoes, jewelry hair & makeup.. their only requirement is to show up to the wedding [and of course go dress shopping for their dresses].

Most of my wedding budget is taken up by the venue rental, great food, and entertainment. Although I can’t afford to spend a lot on BM gifts, I’m also trying to make things as easy on them financially as I can. I’m giving them a color and having them buy any dress they choose, and pairing it with shoes they already own. Everyone (including me) will do their own hair and makeup. I am planning on getting them $20-25 gift cards, a heartfelt card, and small memento based on their likes/personality. It should come to about $30 each.

Hi bee’s, I am from England and it is customary here to buy BM dresses. We would never dream of asking a BM to pay for her dress, I will also be paying for hair and make up on the day and will get them individual gifts totalling around £120 each…$200?? Lol I will also be buying my mothers outfit and gifts because she will be walking me down the aisle. However we are getting married in Cyprus and everybody is paying for their own travel and accomodation so I want to say thank you for that with lovely gifts, maybe some nice Swarovski jewellry or a micheal kors watch..? 🙂 x

I lucked out hard with my BM gifts. I wanted to get them each a strand of pearls. When I went to purchase them they were all 65% off. I intended to spend $100 per lady, and got them for around $40 after taxes. Totally thrilled.
