this is interesting! I'm curious how much the average couples spend on weddings in your area. Is/was this about what you spent/plan on spending??
"On average, US couples spend $20,398 for their wedding. However, the majority of couples spend between $15,299 and $25,498 while their wedding budget is typically 50% less than the amount spent. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring."
On average, couples that live in Richmond, VA spend between $16,522 and $27,537 for their wedding.
oh wow! I guess this makes sense though--- I hope to get no where near that--- maybe around 8k.
Very fun! I got between 15,604 and 26,007. I hope to not spend that much!
On average, couples that live in Greensboro, NC 27410 spend between $18,358 and $30,597 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.
Cool website!
Good thing we aren't getting married where my FI is from--it's between 24,352 and 40,541 there.
it says that couples in Los Angeles spend between $18,511 and $30,852 for their weddings. I actually don't know anyone personally who had their wedding in LA under 30K, (not that it's not possible). Unfortunately I think this calculation is kind of skewed when it comes to LA and many other big cities. It takes into account the many extremes that are present in the wide array of socio-economic areas in a big city to skew the numbers.
Also interesting that when I typed in my parents' zip code it came up with between $57,216 and $95,361 and they only live a few miles from me in a similar neighborhood.
On average, couples that live in _____ County, PA spend between $12,086 and $20,143 for their wedding.
Sounds about right! Gotta love rural prices.
Ouch...
$21,877 and $36,461
We'll be somewhere in the middle of that, but for some reason seeing that number go into the $30k range really made me feel sick.
On average, couples that live in Anchorage municipality, AK 99507 spend between$21,112 and $35,187 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.
BUT that was where I used to live... I moved to the boonies, and it didn't even register my new zip code!!! LOL
On average, couples that live in Long Beach, CA 90803 spend between $16,216 and $27,027 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring
I wish my wedding couldve been this price! I think guest count definitely factors in, as I had 220 guests and mine was just under double the high end listed above!
@Minuatie: I wonder where in central PA you are from? We almost have the same numbers...I'm from central PA too!
On average, couples that live in PA spend between $13,157 and $21,928 for their wedding.
That's about right. The one reception venue EVERYONE uses around here has a $9,000 minimum for a Sat wedding
Ok so just for fun I put in FH's zip code and this is what came up
On average, couples that live in PA spend between $25,548 and $42,581 for their wedding.
I am dumbfounded! $42,000? He grew up only 15min from me! To see that number more than double the high end for my area in just a small distance make me sick
Holy sh!t:
On average, couples that live in San Francisco, CA spend between $33,963 and $56,604 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.
We're (well mostly our parents) are spending about $20K, and half of that is the honeymoon!
@SandDollar: I'm a Yorkie. :) Do you know about Maize Quest? I live near there...so near it's almost embarassing, haha.
@Minutiae: Your so close to me! I'm from Manheim. FH is from Lancaster.
Wow, Nexus!
Mine wasn't that bad...
On average, couples that live in Charleston, SC spend between $19,123 and $31,872 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring. Wedding cost or average spent based on spending of other brides and grooms not wedding vendor prices. Spending and prices can vary widely. You should expect to pay 25% to 50% more for a well-experienced professional. Investigate all options and choose products and services that best meet your needs.
Yeah, definitely not within those numbers... and we're still going to have just as great a wedding. It's all about what you're talented at. Luckily, my talents lie in design and sewing. (To get the wedding I want without me being able to do it would cost me roughly $23,000 instead of the $13,000 it will cost... isn't that INSANE?!)
OH MY GOD. I put in the zip code for the city we're actually getting married in, instead of the one we live in: On average, couples that live in Malibu, CA 90265 spend between $67,160 and $111,934 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.
I feel a little sick inside now.
Where I actually live is between $27,078 and $45,131, which is actually where we'll be so I guess we're doing okay. ;)
haha, the only reason ours IS so cheap is because we're going to city hall. If we were doing a normal big thing it would definitely be that much around here. We're taking a fancy honeymoon paid for by FI's parents to make up for it. I actually think we'll spend less than $10K on stuff for the actual wedding and reception.
Ha I found this to be really funny.
If I enter the zipcode of where I grew up and where my parents still live:
On average, couples that live in Hunlock township: Luzerne County, PA 18621 spend between $6,731 and $11,219 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.
But when I enter the zipcode of where FI grew up, where his parents still live, and the zipcode in which the wedding will take place (which is 10 minutes away from my zipcode):
On average, couples that live in Back Mountain, PA 18612 spend between $18,205 and $30,342 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.
That's such a difference!
YAY Boston! On average, couples that live in Cambridge, MA 02139 spend between $33,351 and $55,585 for their wedding
@Miss Stephanie: That is what happened to me! He is the next township over and I literally live on the line between the two (our houses are actually 15 min apart but the township line is right in my backyard)! The numbers were completely different. Very funny
@Miss Spaniel: Wow! That's all I can say is wow! I also checked the zip code for the OBX, where our wedding will be and it was very similar to the averages for my area. Phew! Nothing like your price difference! haha We are will be on the under budget/on the low end of the average.
On average, couples that live in Charlotte, NC 28216 spend between $22,030 and $36,716 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.
..My FI and I are right in the middle of this number...we are around 30K for a DW/Honeymoon for 2. Although when I think about the fact that we are spending that much just for the two of us and no guests...WOWSER...we have lost our minds!
On average, couples that live in Poway, CA 92064 spend between $31,821 and $53,035 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.
I'm not sure how accurate this statistic is because our wedding overall including wedding and honeymoon costed $15,000. But then again, we only had 41 guests.
I was really shocked by this. We're getting married in Bloomington, IN, a college town, and the average is between 18,000 & 30,000. Our budget is $15,000! And I've been thinking this whole time that all of our local vendors are cheap..hm.
Wow, we spent almost EXACTLY the low end of the number for our zip code. The amounts were shockingly (to me) low for NYC!
@star - I felt like Chicago's was really low compared to what people I know spend, as well. I think the city numbers are skewed because urban areas tend to have such a variety of incomes. You probably have a lot more people doing only courthouse weddings, etc, contributing to that number.
On average, couples that live in West Orange township: Essex County, NJ 07052 spend between $36,869 and $61,449 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.
That's what you get for living in the tri-state area! We're planning to budget between 20,000-25,000. It just might work.
On average, couples that live in Middlesex County, MA 01821 spend between $22,183 and $36,971 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.
ugh. I'm thinking more like $15,000 - $20,000.
The area I grew up in/ where my parents live is 30022- Alpharetta/ John's Creek!!! The website says... it's Roswell? That's about 10 miles west of where I lived. Anyway, the average cost between $37,328 and $62,214... Where I live now is $19,276 and $32,127.
Just for fun: On average, couples that live in Beverly Hills, CA 90210 spend between $57,216 and $95,361...
On average, couples that live in Atascadero, CA 93422 spend between $15,910 and $26,517 for their wedding.
Funny because 5 minutes down the road the prices increase! On average, couples that live in San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 spend between $20,041 and $33,402 for their wedding.
Our budget is around $16,000.
On average, couples that live in Franklin, TN 37064 spend between $24,478 and $40,796 for their wedding.
YIKES! We are trying to stay UNDER the low end!
My are is 15-25,000.00 My mom will be happy with this number! Makes me want to take the money and keep it instead of having a wedding haha but the girl's dream gotta happen ;)
...between $28,914 and $48,190. *sigh* With our guest count of 300 and how much photogs in the area are charging ($6K+!) it looks like we'll be at the high end if not over
Los Angeles, CA spend between $18,511 and $30,852 for their wedding
Really not what our budget is!
Well, I thought getting married in Sedona was expensive. For that zip code, it says Between $29,373 - $48,955. But, I guess that's better than getting married in my own zip code, for which it says: $36,410 - $60,684. Eek!
I am working with a $17k budget and trying to stick to it. $12k below the low # for Sedona. Hhhmmm. We only have 30-40 guests coming, and only 2 people in our bridal party, which helps.
Ummm... no shot I'm spending this:
On average, couples that live in _____________NY spend between $49,261 and $82,102 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.
Insanity!
