@ Ms. Min Pin I'm from Westch. too - I nearly freaked when I saw that #. I knew it was expensive but WOW! How is it more than Manhattan or CT? Weirdness.
Wow, couples in my hometown (Norwalk, CT) spend $30,000-50.000. Yikes!

Where we live, it's about 9-16k. Where we're thinking about getting married, also 9-16k, give or take a couple hundred.
Oy.
I realllllly thought we could have a wedding for 5k.
We were out and about today and SO commented on a guy with 4 daughters and how he'd have to fork out 100k in weddings. I was like omfg. "No, we're not spending 25k on a wedding, closer to 5k." I pulled up a spreadsheet template for a budget and started plugging in really extremely rough estimates... And had complete sticker shock. :(

If you take the survey, you'll realize that it has nothing to do with what zipcode your wedding is in. Rather, it's the socioeconomics of the zipcode you LIVE in. For example, our zipcode is purely residential (unless there are backyard weddings).
It's also interesting to see that the national average given has dropped about $8000 since a year ago when I first started planning my wedding.

My fiance and I live in Manhattan now, and we've set a $20k budget for a wedding in the West Village. We are paying for 100 percent of it. Middle of the city, and I'm coming in only 300 dollars over that. Of course, in my hometown, it's a lot about keeping up with the Joneses and appearances.
