So I have been scouring the internet for the perfect shoes, but have started to think that maybe it's not really such a big deal.  How much can people actually see your shoes under your dress?  Is it worth stressing over the perfect shoes?

I think it depends on the dress. My dress is very poofy and I am wearing a hoop under it, so no one can see my shoes unless I lift up my dress, which I don't think will happen much really.

I think it's important your shoes look nice, but they don't have to be super expensive to look nice.

I don't think it's a big deal - I think shoes are something that a lot of women tend to have a soft spot for, so we make a big deal about it, but it's really a pretty minor detail.  I spent a lot of time shopping for my wedding shoes b/c I'm shoe-obsessed and love shoe shopping.  But I could have easily gone with a less expensive pair that I didn't spend a bunch of time looking for and I don't think it would have made much difference!

Unless you're lifting up your dress all over the place no one is going to see them.

I just got simple white ballet flats. They were $20. I just wanted something simple that wouldn't look out of place if they did show, but hopefully they won't show. I also didn't want anything with sequins or crystals that might snag on the hemline of the dress.

I agree with angarrett81 that shoes are fun to buy and that's why there's a lot of talk about them, not so much that they are a critical choice in wedding planning.
