I’m a little bit obsessive about planning and knew pretty much exactly how I wanted my wedding to be by the time we got engaged. Even though our wedding is still over a year and a half away I have the majority of things done (And we only got engaged 2 months ago!)Venue, Dress, Caterer, Photographer, DJ. How far along are you in your planning?

Wow! Thats way early, good for you! I have almost everything done except for little details – makeup artist, picking out all of the songs we need for the ceremony etc. I got engaged in April 2011 and am getting married this October so I had quite a lot of time to plan as well. Everyone warned me about buying my dress early (got it in August 2011) because I would change my mind, but I still love it (thankfully!) and it still would have been my top choice if I had to do it over again.

- Wedding: September 2014 - Lodge
We have our venue reserved, wedding party picked, I have talked to a florist (we pushed our original date back so I’ll pretty much be sticking with same flowers with a few changes). I have my dress, shoes, a couple accessories.
We pretty much know exactly what we want we just need to get vedors booked (but its too soon) and start making our decor.

hello ladies 🙂
a new september bride here. we got engaged a little over 2 weeks ago and we’ve already started trying to sort a few bits out, its been a crazy 2 weeks! 🙂
we’re vieweing a venue this evening 🙂 its one we’ve both fallen in love with so fingers crossed! but apart from that we’ve reserched our photographer, cake, suits, band and car 🙂 so once we have the venue set i dont think we will be far behind booking everything else!

- Wedding: September 2014 - Blue Horse Farm
We have already started looking at venues. I know the EXACT type of venue I want and there are only so many locations that can provide it so that is an easy place to start. We are hoping to be booked by June as far as venue. It’s just been hard envisioning everything (I want an outdoor weddding) with all of the snow we keep having here in MN! I really wish mother nature would pull herself together! I have a pretty good idea of who will be in the bridal party as well, but that’s about as far as we have gotten.
@NurseMandie – we are date Twins! Although it seems like you have a head start on planning 🙂 How fun!

I think that’s awesome. The more you can get booked and settled now, the better in my opinion. There is nothing as annoying as last minute decisions.

We have our venue booked (2014 wedding season is fully booked- we had 2 date choices!), church booked, photographer booked.
2 of my friends are DJs so they are “booked”. Another friend does cakes so that is “booked”. I’ve been picking up decor items here and there…
I’ve proposed to my 2 bridesmaids and both said yes 🙂
Funny, by looking at this list it would actually appear as though I not only have my shit together but may even be a couple steps ahead for once!
That’s highly unusual.

We have our venue and photographer booked! And have a good general idea on everything else. There is a big wedding fair that comes to our city in September and January so I am hoping to score deals on DJ/Florist/Limo there – Fingers Crossed!

Fiance & I have been engaged for over a year now, and I am starting to feel like I’m forgetting things! We have the venue, which does the catering, and our ceremony is there. We also booked our photographer/videographer and DJ. We’re currently researching officiants. After that, we need to do dresses/tuxedos, favors (we’re doing donations), flowers, limos, and book hair/make-up. I feel like I don’t know what else needs to get done?!

- Wedding: September 2014 - Jacksonville Inn
We just got engaged a week ago, so we haven’t done much. We set a date, chose colors and decided on the feel we want the wedding to have. We have an inn in mind that we will most likely use for our ceremony and reception. They provide the catering and cake, so that will be a few less vendors to deal with. I know I am doing my own flowers, so no need to worry about a florist. We’ve decided what my partner, her best friend(best woman) and the friend walking me down the aisle will wear. Our first worry right now is going to see the venue and securing our date.

meeting with 2 different photographers this wweek
hopefully decide between a church ceremony or at the reception ceremony
then I don’t want to think about anything until November when I go dress shopping 🙂

– venue + 50% paid
– wedding party
– photographer + 50% paid
– picked out dress but haven’t purchased
– started making some signs/general decor
– made a rough draft of the guest list and started gathering addresses
– engagement pics in August
– sending out save the dates in September
😀 so excited!
