The place I go to charges either $13 or $15 not including tip. For my area I pay a little more to go to a salon instead of a nail place because I have sensitive skin and burn easily.
i pay $18 not including tip in houston, seems like you're got a pretty awesome deal! $85 is pretty outrageous, you should be able to get alot more waxed for that amount haha!
Wow!!! The most I have ever spent has been 6-7 dollars on eyebrow waxing, and they do a great job.
I pay $15-18 plus tip, depending on where I go. I usually round it up to $20 or $25.
Oddly enough, around here prices seem to be the same at lower quality places (Ulta, etc) as the salons... only difference being the quality of the wax itself, of course.
The last place I went to charged me $8. It was a school and I honestly was not satisfied with the end product. The time before that (at another school) was $10 and waay better. Now I just pluck them myself, but I think for the wedding I might get them waxed the day before or something.
I can get them waxed for about $10 and thread for about $7. It depends on where I go.
I love the threading method i pay $10 dollars but it lasts sooo much longer. Did you try the malls, local nail salons i've always had good experiences with them.
Thanks all...good to know I'm not completely crazy, but it does look like I'll have to spend a bit more than I'm used too. I've checked at mostly salons, and did finally find one that was $15 and one place that was $20. Anything over $20 I just find hard to justify! I live close to the city though so that could be why prices are crazy.
We do have an Aveda school here, not sure on their prices but it's a little scary to me. The outer ends of my eyebrows are extremely thin from overplucking when I was 13. They never really grew back but I want to hang on to what I have left.
my salon was charging $18 but they've raised it to $20. I think that's too much. I would say $15 would be better suited, and I'm the one who does them!
Can anyone recommend a threading place in pittsburgh? I've been dying to try it, but don't want to go without a recommendation. Also, with threading, how long does the 'stubble' have to be?
{sorry for the minor thread hi-jack!}
And I typically pluck for free at home.
I have mine done at an Aveda salon, which already equals "more expensive" 90% of the time, and they only charge $15. I add a $5 tip.
I usually pluck free at home, but am getting them waxed for the wedding because it just looks so much better. My salon charges $15 (not including tip.)
PS, $85 for getting eyebrows waxed is INSANE, absolutely insane. With how amazing my brows looked after my recent $15 wax job, I cannot fathom what somebody could do to make it worth $85....
the lady i usually go to because she's been doing them for years charges like, 13 including the tax. i did, however get them done once at school charged 5, but i didn't really like the way she did it.
around here, depending where you go, its $10-$15 for waxing and $7-$12 for threading. I much prefer threading, I feel it hurts less and I end up with a much cleaner result!
@farmersdaughter I agree. I thought for sure I was mistaken when I read that (like maybe a full face wax + a hairy neck or something??) but ya it was a salon in an expensive area of town, I just didn't think that expensive...
I charge $12... $10 for my regulars.... honestly it costs me about 38 cents everytime i wax somones brows and takes me 10 mins or less... no way could i see those outrageous prices
I pay $20 at Macy's in the mall at their Brow Bar. I could find another local salon but sometimes it's convienient for me to go to the mall. (or inconvienient because I end up shopping. lol)
I pay $8 and they do a fantastic job. Have to take a bus to get to the salon, but I don't care. Why pay more and get something half as good just cause it's within walking distance? I can't pluck- just can't do it. So thankful for the eyebrow wax.
I have my own wax pot at home and I buy my wax from Sally's. Granted I used to be a massage therapist and I did lots of trades with aestheticians, so I learned how to do it. There are some how-to videos on youtube.
I go to a place here in Pasadena called the 'Brau Haus,' they charge about $18, but all they do is waxing and make-up. In fact, I'm going today!
$7 at the nail place next to my office in HB. Just went today - she does an amazing job every time! I LOVE it.

So my hairstylist in Houston charges me $10 to wax my eyebrows, but since I'm living in Dallas now it's really hard to get back there enough to get that done. Every place here that I've looked up seems to charge atleast $25 not including tax/tip. :P One place that I looked at charges $85!! Is that excessive for a few strips of wax or is my hairstylist just super awesome for only charging $10. She charges $10 whether or not I get my hair cut at the time.
