Lately I haven't been sleeping much, and it's making me miserable.

Ideally I'd get 8-9 hours a night!  Recently it's been more like 5-6 hours a night... not a huge deal, but it's getting hard to pull off as I get older.

How about you... how much do you sleep a night on average?  How much sleep do you *need* versus how much you get?

I need about 7 to be fully functional, but I don't mind getting extra :) I'm easily getting 8+ since I'm working part time and don't need to be there until 2:45. The few days I have to be there at 7:30-8 aren't so fun though x.x Hubby goes on way less, 5-6 usually. Lately it's been kicking his butt though... I guess he's getting older too lol

I am happy with about 6 1/2 hours. However, lately I've been getting around 5-6, and it's taking quite a toll on me. But grad school, a job and planning a wedding are hard to juggle!

Um I usually get about 7-7.5 but if I get a chance I like to sleep longer. I've been sick a lot lately so its not unusual for me to be getting 10-11 right now.  I'm half cat.

If I don't get 9 solid hours, I end up with sleep lack as the days add up. In fact, I can get 9 hours every night all week and still need to take a nap on Sunday (I love Sunday naps!) - I guess I require a lot of sleep, and I generally get it. Sometimes I'll get less - 6 when I'm up late and need to get up early, but I have to make up for it within the next few nights.

In college, I would stay up all night writing papers and end up with four hours and it did me fine - I could last all the next day no problem. But, the day after, it would hit me, and I'd be exhausted!

Lately I need about 9 hours of sleep.  It used to be only about 6-7 and I was fine.

It totally varies, some nights I'll get 4 hours, other nights 9 hours... it just depends on when I have to work/ boy has to work and whether or not he's staying over (I sleep better when he's here). He requires aloooooooot of sleep, though.

I sleep like 6 or 7 hours, I have the hardest time sleeping!  Really, though, I probably need like 9 hours.

This is such an important subject to me! I spent all last year getting at most 4 hours of sleep because of my crazy work/school schedule. And then in one of my classes this year we covered sleep deprivation in depth, and I realized how important 8 hours really is - along with the fact that just because you don't feel like you need more, doesn't mean your body isn't having trouble with necessary processes.

I hate that real life often prevents me from getting the ideal amount of sleep still, because now I'm more aware of what it's doing to me. I get about 6-7 hours a night right now, on average, and that's making an effort! But I've realized that most people gain all kinds of weight, lose the speed of their reflexes and mental function, raise their blood pressure, slow muscle repair, inhibit their immune system, etc, when they are sleep deprived.

I usually get around 7 hours.  I think that's ideal for me.  I am a fan of sleeping a little longer on the weekends though and possibly taking a weekend nap if I have the chance.  Usually I don't get the chance!

When I was self-employed I barely slept.... maybe 5 hours a night. Since shutting it down I've been getting around 8-9 hours a night. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. I'm so much happier, I have a lot more energy & my weight is stable. Without sleep my weight bounced around & varied week to week. Ick :(

When I was in school, my sleep varied from night to night.  Now that I've started work, I pretty much get 8 hours a night.  Honestly, I'd like to get 8.5 to 9--that's when I feel really rested.

I'm an 8.5-9hr girl.  If I don't get it, I have to catch up on the weekend, or I'm an unhappy unproductive soul.

As a nurse, sleep can be a little wonky at times for me because I work both days and nights, 12 hour shifts. I am really happy on 8 hours of sleep during my days off, but I often sleep 9 after finishing a day shift. I sometimes have trouble sleeping after nights - usually get about 5-6 hours, 7 if I am doing well. Overall I feel like I get enough sleep. I always feel better when I do!

I'm really unpleasant if I don't get at least six, and I'm only normal when I get 8 or more.  I'm always the first to bed in our apartment...even the guinea pig stays up with Mr. Octo!

I sleep about 5-7, I need about 6! I can survive on 5, and if I'm in an insomnia cycle, I usually sleep around 3-4 (sleep, wake, sleep, wake, thru the night). It doesn't really affect my day, I just get really really bored at night being awake :)

I need at least 8 hours or I get very cranky!!! Well, that's not completely true...I can manage to be somewhat nice to people if I've had about 6 or more hours. But any less than that - - Watch out!!!

I usually sleep about 7-8, and I feel good with that, although I love a good nap on the weekends when I am unable to get as much as I need during the week.

I need about 7-8 hours a night and that's usually about what I get. I can manage on 6 if I have to but too little sleep makes me very cranky.

    Usually about 5 a night, but it's not enough. I'm a major insomniac and a stress-a-holic.

I feel good when I get 8-9 hours, much less energetic if 6-7, and definitely struggle to get through the day if I get less than 6!  Too much sleep also seems to wear me out though - if I sleep for 12 hours, I still feel tired during the day!

I feel the best if i get 9 hours a night but right now I am getting 8 hours per night with 2-3 interruptions (14yo dog who can't old his bladder)!

I probably would be ok with 8 hours solid sleep but the interruptions are KILLING me right now!

My body is happy when I get 9 hours. If I am well-rested, I will only sleep that long and then snap up wide awake. If I sleep much less, I feel really out of it for most of the day and usually need a nap.

I get about 5-6 hours of sleep a night but I'm one of those people that need to get about 8 hours a night so I'm not usually the best person to be aroundm especially in the morning. I try to catch up on my sleep on my days off.

I am such a sleeper!  I really suffer if I don't get 10 hours.  When working, I go to bed at a ridiculously senior citizen time :P

i get about 3 unless my daughter is nice to me and lets me sleep in. I work a night shift and get home as my fiance is waking up.. so there are alarms and doors all over the place and of course it wakes the toddler up... so i usually quiet her back down and steal a cat nap. Then friday nights  i sleep between 8-12 hours and i'm refreshed! i cant WAIT for her to start school or for me to get a day shift job!

I'm between 7-9 hours too. If I don't get at least 7 hours, I'm pretty miserable. 5 hours would kill me!
