I think it would really depend on how well you know the couple. I think location of the wedding (Bay Area) should not really matter. If I know the couple well and I really like them, than perhaps upwards of 200. But if they are just so-so friends and my husband and I are attending, than perhaps around 75-100.
nowadays people dont seem to give tangible gifts - for wedding cash, min is prob $100, and $150/person ($300 if you bring a guest) for a good friend or lavish place.
if you dont know the person well $250 will be more than enuf.
Honestly? We're students, so $50. Luckily, people in my circle don't give cash really, so we can at least try to buy something that doesn't scream the price on it.
mmm...I'd probably give around $150-200. But it definitely depends on how close you are to the couple.
I would say somewhere in the ballpark of $150, give or take depending on how close you are to the couple.
i usually do $150-$200, but i know im on the high side. if i dont have that kind of dough to drop, i usually do a "package" gift.
for example, i went to a wedding where they registered for china, including a tea pot (she and i are HUGE tea drinkers) so i got her the tea pot, a gorgous antique cream and sugar set, a tea infuser and some custom mixed tea from Tevana. it was much more unique and thoughtful that just something straight off the registry.
we usually do $100/person. more if we're really good friends. i don't think the location matters.
