Depends on my connection with the bride.  For family and close friends, around $50.  I usually do $100 for the wedding then.

@Imean:  Depends how close we are. If it’s my sister, a lot. If it’s a friend, $50 to $100.

I usually take the amount of the entire gift I was planning on giving and divide it in half. Spending the one half amount on a shower gift, and then giving the other half as a wedding gift.

Unless it is a close friend or family member, $100 is the usual total gift, so $50 for shower, then $50 in cash for wedding.

Depends on how close I am with the person. For a wedding I was recently in I spent about $150 because I absolutely love my friend and really wanted to get her that particular gift from her registry. For other I am not close with definitely less then $100.

Usually $50 on shower gift and $100 on wedding gift, but also depends on who it is and how close I am to the person.

@Imean:  It depends on my relationship with the person AND if I have to travel an idiotic amount of time for the shower. My friend (who is NOT from NJ) had her bridal shower at an Italian restaurant in NJ (yes the location WAS her choice). We are from NY (Long Island to be exact) and this place held NO specific connection to the couple – it’s not their favorite restaurant, it’s not where he proposed, they didn’t have their first date there. She chose a random place in the middle of NJ to have all of us schelp to.

I usually average $100 on a gift but if I’m going over bridges and paying tolls for no reason the you usually get a discounted gift.
