I had things from $3-4 all the way up to around $200. That was the most expensive we went on the registry. Just make sure you have a wide variety of price ranges and you will be fine 🙂

The cheapest stuff on ours is in the 5 dollar range, all the way up to about 350. Wedding presents come off my registry too though (my circle doesn’t do cash gifts at the wedding) – so I needed to register for enough for the shower and the wedding.

Hey @sillygoat, I’m also having a destination wedding (next month!). I wasn’t sure either if I wanted to have a registry, especially when my fiancé and I have been living together for several years now… But I guess it’s a tradition that I had to keep. —- Anyhow, I have items starting at $5 up to $150. I didn’t want to get pricey items because our guests will be spending quite the money on international flights and accommodations in the Riviera Maya, so I made it pretty affordable for everyone to purchase gifts without hurting their pockets too much. —— As far as a shower, I don’t think I’m having one. We’re receiving our gifts in the mail, since the majority of our friends and family live in a different state or coast, and out of the country. Sorry for making all the text into one paragraph but everytime I start a new one the system gives me all the html code… 🙁

We have a wide range…cheapest items are like $5 (spatulas, spoons, pot holders, etc), all the way up to our most expensive items of about $400 (mixer, pot/pan set). I think there was only 5 items over $100 though (duvet, mixer, pot/pan set, knife set, blender).

Where I live, it is typical to spend about $50 on a gift for a wedding….but some people (like college age friends who are broke) won’t want to spend that much, but other people (like grandparents, close family) will want to spend more, hence the big ticket items…..but you’ll want to have a variety to fit everyones budget.

We only registered for things that we needed though, things that if we do not get, we will go out and buy anyways at the end (most places will give you a discount on the items that weren’t purchased).

We are having 2 showers and then our wedding gifts will come from the registry also.

The registry has been one of my favorite parts, not the gift-grabby part, but just the dreaming and choosing about what items we will use in our new life together. Just have fun with it!

Items that we’re registering for (We are starting from scratch, FI lives in a house furnished by his parents and I still live with my parents, so we don’t “own” any of this kind of stuff yet) : towels, blankets (everyone ive talked to said you can never have too many linens!), cookware (bowls, pots, pans, pyrex bowls/pans) blender, iron, bedding, kitchen utensils, plates, silverware, cups, sheets, cutting boards….just all the “basics” for kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.

as long as you have a range of prices, you will be fine.  and friends may go in together on bigger purchases.

We have the same range – about $5 up to $300. Our dish sets were, combined, more expensive (nothing fancy, Noritake Colorwave) – but could have been bought separately (FSMIL went a little crazy the day we registered – and it was a MASSIVE Macy’s sale . . . she ordered them all that night). My shower invitations started getting delivered yesterday, and I’ve already seen one thing (one of our flatware sets) has been purchased 🙂 Most of the things on our registry are between $50 and $75, but we know there are members of the family that will want to get us nicer things. Here’s hoping for the fancy grind & brew coffee maker! We already have a Vitamix and a KitchenAid mixer . . . a nice coffee maker would be fantastic!

LIke the PPs said, a wise price range is good.  We had anywhere from $4 up to $200, with most being on the cheaper side, just a couple of larger ticket items.  We also were not in a huge need for things in our kitchen, so we registered for upgrades of what we already had, or things we always wanted but never bought.  (Like a better immersian blender than the thrift store one we owned, etc)
